B&T Chapter 5: Border Crisis
General Summary
- Draconius gets some demon book (can cast demons without them being uncontrollable, can double CR/challenge rating of demons summoned)
- The group leaves the library. Found 6,000 GP. Split it 6 ways. Hook the guard drake up and head out, ride for a week.
- Come across a border crisis between lizardfolk, snakefolk, and Morithus' Dragonborn
- Balcazar uses 1 spell slot to reanimate 20 undead lizardfolk & snakefolk (each have AC of 12 and HP of 30)
- Nolya spots a wounded Reaper Dragonborn. kills him for his blood
- Draconius summons 4 demons up to CR 1
- Balcazar & Draconius send their forces after approaching soldiers
- Sharpjaw summons a liontar (reptilian lion, 1 spell slot) & Lamarva
- Sharpjaw, Fork & Draconius are outside of the carriage, while Nolya, Balcazar & Obu are in the carriage. Guard Drake is reigned up.
Combat: Reaper Dragonborn Soldiers
Initiative
Round 1
- Fork: 15 damage to the troops with punches (1 ki point spent). Disengages with drunken technique and hops 5 ft behind zombie line
- Sharpjaw: Hunter's Mark and fires a set of arrows, first two miss but the double shot does 17 damage
- Lamarva: Misses her attacks
- Liontar: Misses her attacks
- Reaper Dragonborn Soldiers: Cut down 5 zombies
- Draconius & Demons: Attacks with greataxe pact weapon while casting Green Flame Blade. 6 slashing damage, 10 damage with Green flame. Attacks again for 17 damage. Runs back behind the zombies and demons. Quasit turns into centipede and bites for 4 damage
- Balcazar & Zombies (15): 7 out of 15 Zombies hit, 11 damage per Zombie (77 damage via zombie). Then does 14 damage from a Firebolt through his cannon hole, then fires Madrakor's Gauntlet for 5 damage.
- Noyla: Searches for and finds a shortbow with 6 arrows. Sharpjaw attempts to mansplain archery while Nolya blasts her target with 3 damage.
- Master Obu: chills
- Guard Drake: roar barks
Round 2
- Fork; 14 damage with a crit, snaps his neck and Disengages from the soldier
- Sharpjaw: Cast Subjugate Lesser Beings and got three of the five to kill themselves. Shoots arrow but misses. Lamarva misses but the Liontar bites into soldier for 5 damage
- Reaper Dragonborn Soldiers (2): One goes apeshit on the monk for 26 damage, the other goes slashy for 16 damage to the zombies
- Draconius & Quasit: 7 damage with Quasit claws, along with 8 poison damage. Draconius uses a slash with the pact weapon for 14 damage and 10 damage with green flame blade, then does 9 damage.
- Balcazar & Zombies: Ends him with Madrakor's gauntlet.
Aftermath
- Sharpjaw finds a serpentine-style show in addition to 20 arrows. Gave shortbow to Nolya and split arrows 50/50 amongst them
- Fork finds flasks of strong Dragonborn liquor
- Balcazar finds Chain Mail & dons it, AC of 16 but disadvantage. Also finds Dragonborn cyanide potion
- Draconius finds Chain Mail & dons it, AC of 16 but disadvantage. Finds the Morithus Glaive (adds 1d4 of your draconic essence to every attack it makes)
- Master Obu slumbers
- Piles into the carriage and rides off through the battlefield. Sharpjaw misguides them deeper into the battle, but Nolya takes control and navigates them out of the border crisis.
- Make it to the edge of Forest Dragon territory, a week's travel from Islador
Rewards Granted
- 3,000 XP each for killing the Reaper Dragonborn soldiers
- 6,000 GP total for completing the Librarian Quest
- Morithus Glaive (adds 1d4 of draconic essence to every hit) & Chain Mail (Draconius)
