B&T Chapter 12: What Now?

General Summary

Opening

• Sharpjaw & Nolya are from Gotharamor. Draconius finds a strand of her hair
• The group decides many options for their future; heading to Maku's Landing while getting to the ocean. Also knows that teleportation magic is a thing, and want to search for the Gaiostones
• Long Rest; Stonius mans the dinosaur
• The next day, they find dinosuars; theirs are hungry

• Fork: Jumps out of the carriage with Steady Fall, then attacks for 7 damage.
• Master Obu: Casts Sacred Flame on the Triceratops for 6 radiant damage
• T-Rex: Bites the Triceratops for 34 piercing damage
• Balcazar: Casts Vicious Mockery for 3 psychic damage. The Triceratops now knows its place in the universe
• Draconius: Casts Eldritch Blast for 14 force damage
• Triceratops: Whines
• Allosaurus: Lunges free (does 3 bludgeoining to Draconius for falling out) and kills the Triceratops

Traveling to Maku's Landing (6 days)

The group eats and then sets off. Each are doing downtime stuff for the next few days:

• Master Obu: investigates his ore (basically magic-tech circuitry) and keeps the T-Rex running
• Draconius: studying Blood Magic & training with Stonius, giving the following benefit to his spells; when dealing damage with a spell attack, Draconius can choose to accept the regular damage or add a Blood Magic roll (d6, d8 or d10 with no modifiers) to the total. Whatever he rolls will get added to the total damage of the attack, but will cost 2/3 the amount of temporary or current HP (rounds up). Once Draconius makes a Blood Magic roll, he must take the bonus (and associated HP cost) from the roll.
• Fork: drinking & studying his staff combos
• Balcazar: trains with Stonius & researches Gaioforce survival methods

They travel and get appropriate downtime hours for all these activities. Ideas are sprouted about handling the Gaiostones:

• Master Obu suggests using his ore to make a Gaiostone resistant device
• Fork & Balcazar discuss their thoughts as well, and their future
• Gonna go for Gaiostones, learning as much as they can about them

• Fork: Tosses dart for 5 damage, now has 9 darts
• Master Obu: Commands the Allosaurus to stop and runs out to the T-Rex. Cast Sacred Flame and deals 15 radiant damage
• Draconius: Casts Fireball on Wyvern for 29 fire damage (14 due to fire resistance)
• Wyvern: Bites Obu but misses, then Stings Obu for 12 piercing & 22 fire damage
• Balcazar: Fires Madrakor's Gauntlet but misses, then casts Blight for 18 necrotic damage
• T-Rex: Bites the tail for 20 piercing damage
• Magmin: Wander on the scene

Round 2

• Fork: yells at the Magmin to fuck off; gives one a firm smack on the hand and then draws line in the sand
• Master Obu: Hops on the T-Rex back and speaks to the Allosaurus: "Roar as loud as you can" and casts Thaumaturgy, scattering the Magmin
• Draconius: Cast Eldritch Blast and crits the Wyvern, killing it

Aftermath

• Master Obu allows the dinosaurs to eat. Meanwhile, the group scouts out a volcano that would be good for forging
• Balcazar alchemizes the Ouima Rot cure into a concoction. Master Obu needs to cast Wind Wall & Grasping Vine to get lava from the volcano, but he needs a tiny fan & a feaher from an exotic being
• Draconius casts Minor Illusion to distract the T-Rex
• Master Obu casts Create Food & Water and feeds T-Rex, distracting it more while Balcazar pulls out the feather with Mage Hand
• Master Obu casts Wind Wall & Grasping Vine using the feather and his shield as a fan, and along with Fork's dexterious power, they succesfully heat the concoction and create the cure for Ouima Rot.
• They get the two ceramic jars of cure into the cart and set up camp in a volcanic cave near the peak. The dinosaurs sleep outside
• Group got 4,100 XP from the triceratops & wyvern, then 900 XP for creatively combining the Ouima Rot cure ingredients in the volcanic heat.

Inventory Changes

• Master Obu: sacrifices his shield as a Material component for Wind Wall & his leather armor (used to make a strap for the shield) to keep the ceramic jars tied together during the forging process (burned it away after success)
• - The Forest Giant finger, 1 lb of Draconic Gold & Reaper Dragonborn blood (expended to craft the Ouima Rot cure)
• + Ouima Rot cure (contained in 2 ceramic jars in the BoneMobile)
• Balcazar: +30 training days with his Greataxe (only needs 30 more to become proficient with Greataxe attacks)
• Draconius: +10 training days with Stonius (30 total days of training, since he's already proficient in all weapons/armor due to being a lvl 1 Fighter, he could use one day of downtime/travel time to give these days to Balcazar in exchange for something he desires) & 4 research days of Blood Magic (10 total days of research on this topic). This gives Draconius the following benefit to his spells; when dealing damage with a spell attack, Draconius can choose to accept the regular damage or add a Blood Magic roll (d6, d8 or d10 with no modifiers) to the total. Whatever he rolls will get added to the total damage of the attack, but will cost 2/3 the amount of temporary or current HP (rounds up). Once Draconius makes a Blood Magic roll, he must take the bonus (and associated HP cost) from the roll.
