A history of the major events and figures that have shaped the destiny of eastern Kordania, including the Callair Forest, Kesselbron Mountains and the Shattered Plateau.

Titanic Age

    The Laystones
    Geological / environmental event

    Madame Nightshade, in a move that goes against much of the fey courts in both the Callair and the Fey Wilde, encloses the Callair Forest in a fence of magical pylons known as Laystones. Together, they creat a net that prevents the Callair from spreading any further. Decried as a traitor, Madame Nightshade withdraws into the darkest corner of the Callair, claiming it for herself.

    The Domain of Dragons
    Founding

    In Eastern Kordania, dragons dominate the region. Over time, a number of them gather together and rule over the mortal races of the east into a prosperous civilisation under their rule, a series of great cities and citadels collectively named Drakilvas.

    Cabairon, the Glade Warden
    Life, Career

    Among the denizens of the Callair, a satyr named Cabairon rises to become something akin to a demigod. A fearless warrior and fierce defender of the forest and the mortals who live within, his legend spreads like wild fire as he defends those who call the forest home from all who would threaten it. Among his greatest victories is the slaying of Imnagrorrn the False, a cruel green dragon who had long sown terror and distrust throughout the woods.

    The Sacred City by the Lake
    Founding

    Following Cabairon’s burial, the cult of those who revered him as a demigod lay the foundations for a new settlement in the Callair. Lochholm becomes a place of pilgrimage for many mortals and fey alike within the forest who wish to pay homage to this legendary figure. Over time, Lochholm rises to become the single greatest permanent settlement within the forests borders; a spiritual centre and one of the only places where every denizen of the forest coexist in relative peace.

    The Blodhallens Rebel
    Revolution

    In the caverns of the southern Kesselbron, the dwarves and gnomes of Blodhalle rebel against their overlord, a malicious Deep Dragon named Kvelacrugnarl, the Lurker in Shadow. By secretly building war machines and alchemical weapons, the Blodhallens take the fight to the drake in its lair and eventually slay it. With Kvelacrugnarl slain, the Blodhallens claim their independence.

    The Draconic Decline

    Over the centuries, through either internal conflict, war with the northern giants, rebellion, disaster or migration, the numbers of dragons in Eastern Kordania steadily dwindle. Eventually, they pass into myth and legend, and their hold over Drakilvas is ended. Now autonomous, these cities forge onwards as best they can, but as the years pass, one by one they are lost to time.

    The Clans Grow in Strength and Number

    The Kesselbroni clans grow in strength and number as the remnants of the Frosthalda flee into the Hinterlands to escape the shattering of Hearthrond.

    The Nezviedan Invasion

    A Desperate Alliance
    Diplomatic action

    As it’s territories fall one after the other despite its best efforts, Blodhalle itself is besieged no less than a dozen times by the Nezviedans. Finally, they reach out to the Wyrmyran’s and neighbouring Clans for aid. While it costs Blodhalle a great many concessions and a hefty sum of gold, with their aid Blodhalle is able to drive Nezvied off for good.

    Discovery, Scientific

    The dragonborn of Wyrmyr make a remarkable discovery. A mining expedition uncovers a remarkable mineral, dubbed Drakon Dvasi, “dragon spirit”. It is found to have remarkable magical properties, and Wyrmyran scholars posit that it may be rock that has been suffused with the magical essence of dragon, which crystallises over time. Its value is beyond measure, and soon every faction of Eastern Kordania is on the hunt for more veins of the precious mineral.

    The Tables Turned
    Population Migration / Travel

    Hordes of ragged survivors of northern Nezvied, fleeing the catastrophic destruction of their homes in the climax of the Collapse, arrive in the dominion of Blodhalle. Their pleas for succour and sanctuary go coldly unheeded, for the Blodhallens have not forgotten the invasion several centuries before. They instead drive the Nezviedans off, forcing them northwards where they eventually emerge into the Frosthalda.

    The Rewards of Friendship

    Over time, the relationship with Blodhalle and Wyrmyr goes from strength to strength, and thanks to the ingenuity of both cities, a major, world shaking advancement is made. Experimenting with the remarkable, magically receptive drakon dvasi, Blodhallan and Wyrmyran arcanists discover how to infuse mundane objects and materials with magic. The school of artifice is born in Kordania, among the first in all of Gaio.

    When Stone Wards Topple and the Gates are Breeched,
    They Who Lingered Trammeled, Anger and Hate
    Grown Bitter and Nurtured Long ‘Midst the Shade,
    Ended in Blood and Pain the Strangers Fate,
    For What Green Twilight Claims, All Else Must Fade.”
    A prophecy recorded by a Uardvallin sage before her life unexpectedly ended.

    The Drakilzolos and Blodhalle eventually breach into the labyrinthine passageways and caverns of the Underdark and make contact with the Duergar, Drow and other denizens of that subterranean land. Despite their distant relations, these races have not interacted since the Lost Mythos. Over the years, conflicts rise and fall as each faction struggle to peacefully interact.
