Circle of Elders

The executive governing body of Midianar, the Circle of Elders consists of thirteen elected leaders. Elders remain in the Circle for life or until removed by bare majority vote of their peers. Candidates must be at least thirty-five years old. Elections are relatively recent innovation. For most of Medsa history, Elders were essentially inherited titles, though members could be forced out or welcomed in via unofficial consensus of existing Elders in a much more informal system.
Since the Second Storm, the party makeup of the Circle has altered greatly, with the radical Midianari Orthodox party taking on a significant majority among the ranks, displacing the Reformist party that had run the Circle for decades. This has skewed the citystate's government toward increasingly radical actions in the region.
