Artifact
An artifact is an object that has magical properties casted into it by useing artifact magic. An artifact is usually made with arts and curse magic, requiring a person to cast their Will onto it in a certain way, in order to limit its usage to whatever its creator intended. Sometimes an artifact also has elemental magic cast onto it. In such a case the elemental magic can only be used when the user of the artifact casts their Will onto the artifact in the intended way.
Unless the artifact contains everstone or is made by faercrafting, an artifact can not carry elemental cores. It simply contains the magic cast onto it which can be unleased when the conditions of the curse are met (usually through the user's Will). Most artifacts have a limited amount of uses due to this and do not recharge. Once its uses are depleted, the artifact becomes a mundane object. Only artifacts carrying elemental cores can ‘recharge’.
Only beings with a Will can use artifacts, as only they are able to force their Will on the artifact to produce magic. Some artifact, like time bombs, have automatic triggers, which are the result of the condition of the curse magic embedded in them. Most artifacts are made in such a way that they can be used without requiring a lot of control of Will. Some artifacts, especially those used by artificers, require a high proficiency of Will controlling.
