Typewriter

As all notebooks within Birdencaster have premade pages for ballot papers and other forms that can be torn out and used. For people that have many forms to fill in and would have hand ache from constant handwriting or want to make sure that what they are writing is legible, they will use a typewriter. The typewriter has a standard keyboard layout with symbols included.   Typewriters are used instead of computers and their word processors because of The Great Rewind in which the technology, to be able to build computers was lost. The computers that remained were salvaged for their metals and other resources. As the power required to use computers outstrips the advantages of using the technology, so aren't used.

Application

For ballot papers, the typewriter is used to input on the page each candidate for the election in question. Those who are tempted to just put the friend for all of the candidates will quickly be found out and the person typing the ballots will be promptly fired from the voting process but will still be able to vote themselves.   In elections, a ballot paper carries the name of all the candidates for voters to select, and typewriters are used to input them on the page.   For forms, these are mainly filled in with a typewriter as to lower confusion when writing a 7 or 9 and not be confused with its counterpart or other letter-based issues such as with c and e. Banks use typewriters to ensure that the information that they are writing is readable even in the future as texts that were handwritten before and during the 19th century are lost as the characters were not easily read. Some attempts have been made to make these more available, by transcribing them by those who can read the handwriting of days gone by.

Attributes

Typewriters are relatively cheap but are a bit more specialist as each of the striking characters that hit the page have to be custom made out of stainless steel. While the mechanics are made from steel for its ability to wear less easily. The casing of the typewriter is made from aluminium as it is lightweight and the keys themselves are made from PLA plastic that has been painted for each character of the keyboard array.
