The Electrical Protests of Birdencaster

The Conflict

Prelude

Birdencaster’s Energy comes from two separate power stations. One of these relies on waste to burn to make power while the other will last as long as there is geothermal energy to be generated. The issue lies in that most of the city of Birdencaster, apart from Segment 7, ration their energy usage, so that the industry has what it needs, commercial establishments have enough energy to use for the open and closing procedures and the running of the establishment, while the residential building has enough for 2 hours which is normally when people are out.
This is the case for much of Birdencaster except for Segment 7 in which; they only have enough to supply the industries, commercial establishments don’t have enough power and require the use of candles to be able to light shops etc, Residential buildings have no power at all.
The problem isn’t just that everywhere else is getting the preferable treatment it lies in the fact that the waste power plant doesn’t have enough fuel to power it at full capacity. The City of Birdencaster while using solar panels for its more well-off commercial establishments does help matters, by stressing the system less it doesn’t do enough to alleviate the issue. As there is a finite amount of solar panels available, hence their use is in the form of ostentatious showing commercial establishment is doing well.
The city of Birdencaster doesn’t make enough money to import waste from other places to burn, giving the case for never-ending power issues. This, of course, lead to the protests across from many of the residents of Birdencaster mainly from Segment 7 but those who knew someone from there, to show their support.

Conditions

What sparked the protests is the view that other citizens of Birdencaster had it better off than other parts of the city or friends that lived in places other than Segment 7, felt something had to change.
Those who had friends or relatives in Segment 7, saw that their lives were greatly better under the standards of everywhere else. Seeing that in Segment 7, their street lighting is not normally on or that the power rationing for industrial buildings affected them more than other parts of Birdencaster.

The Engagement

The protests spread to 3 places, across the city of Birdencaster including, Segment 7, around the Arena in Zone 1 and outside City Hall.

Solutions

Policies have been added so that if there are lengths of scrap wood that are less than 18cm (7.08 inches) The wood be sold as kindling. This kindling would not be for commercial or domestic use, but rather towards the waste power plant to be burned. This policy while helping was not enough to solve the issue, and the protest continues to the present day.
