Meta: Future’s Seen Vs the World

Time Period

Future’s Seen is set into the future but with the technology rewind to the 1860s-1880s. There will be times in articles when perceivably the thing I mention in the article would not be started or even thought about in the time period in question. This is set in the future so I can say the Panama Canal is a thing and is in working order.

Technology Level

They have the technology of the 1860s to 1880s, as it has been rewound, due to The Great Rewind. As Erin Righ has said they would, of course, know things about technologies they have lost such as better insulators for the wires for their telegraph wires but obviously not enough to make their lives markedly better.

Genre And Themes

This is a near-future dystopia and has themes of post-disaster and not post-apocalyptic. Think of a natural disaster such as an earthquake if the San Andreas fault slips it will be devastating for those nearby but it would be the human race ending. If the people of California don’t recover from the said disaster I would argue that is post-disaster.   In Future’s Seen, they have not fully recovered from The Great Rewind. If someone sends a telegraph message from London to Ottawa, there is a chance that the message will need to be resent as it’s not perfect. This is the best they got so far and should remain as such as to keep the world going as to not be world breaking.   I understand from my Meta: Introduction article originally I described the mars base as “impressive” which lead to some confusion as to if Future’s Seen is steampunk. It isn’t I have changed it so that it looks like we have just started being on Mars as an interplanetary species.    The point of the tower going into the future was to show the potential we have lost. The Great Rewind, starts with cultural malaise which starts around 2015 and ends in the 2030's where the The Great Rewind starts for certain.

Why Don’t You Have A Primer?

I get the appeal of them and how they work, but here’s the thing if I put that as a start here thing and you don’t like near-future dystopias I have lost you now and I don’t get you as a follower or a reader or even a supporter of the Future’s Seen, intellectual property.   If however you have seen one of my articles showcased on twitch, by the streamers and you look at my world you have free reign to pick anything you like and find articles you like, not all my articles mention The Great Rewind, particularly my Profession articles. By doing this I get a whole range of people some who really like the post-disaster stuff and others who are more into the inner working of Birdencaster. And no please don’t take this to be the primer of this world.

Is It An Alternative Timeline?

While I can agree that Future’s Seen is on an alternative Earth as it is in a dystopian genre. I can say that yes it is on an alternative timeline that splintered of at some point from our own one.   I try to keep it as accurate as possible to our timeline so if you watch the VOD of Sable reading The Great Rewind, you will see I mentioned that I thought we would have heard immunity from Covid, first before the vaccine (in fact I didn’t even mention the vaccine) when this became not the case I changed it, so I keep it as accurate as I can.   With some play on the events as The Editors are made up by me as to complete an article for Summer Camp 2020 for “an old or ancient organization which still casts a shadow" The political group, I am mentioning aren’t actually called that.
