Dragon Species in Frigranden | World Anvil

Dragon

Dragons are a race of massive, intelligent reptilian creatures with wings and claws.  Individual traits vary but are often aligned with the elements.  Each dragon holds its own lair and a collection of followers or slaves who help maintain the lair and the dragon's physical needs.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons breed rarely, laying 1 or 2 eggs approximately two months after breeding.  Eggs need constant care for approximately 100 days before hatching.  The necessary environment for gestation usually aligns with the mother's preferred environment.   Male dragons who can transform may produce Half-Dragon offspring with females of other races, but instances are rare.

Ecology and Habitats

Earth and fire aligned dragons prefer cavernous lairs.  Water aligned dragons prefer bodies of water, like lagoons, lakes or bays.  Air aligned dragons prefer mountain tops and mountainous islands away from major settlements.
