Sea Faring States

A loose confederation comprised of the trading islands settled between the major continents in the Caspean Sea. Each island has their own seat of government that is left largely to their own devices, but are responsible for maintaining a militia for mutual defense.
There are 6 island all together. The smallest 3 being The Reef, Anchorage, and Warm Harbor. Respite is a moderately sized island set in the far south, and then there are the two largest islands Lockheed Isle and Kingshead Island .
Kingshead is the largest island, and therefore leads the other islands in most military matters. However, most islands are controlled to varying extent by the Tempest Shipping Company, a large trade conglomerate based in Lockheed Isle. The company has become very influential in most island governments, to almost outright controlling some.

Religion There is no set religion of the Sea Faring States, though it’s people have developed a healthy respect for the environments that they live in and the forces of nature. It is not uncommon to see fisherman release a fish from each catch, or food vendors leave out bread for the birds and crabs. There is a deep respect for the world, and a healthy fear of when nature becomes vengeful against those who would abuse it. 
People The natives of these islands are the Tortles, but they are now rare and have assimilated into the society. Today the Sea Faring States are a melting pot of different races, cultures, backgrounds and skills. It’s people are as colorful as they are diverse, but money rules all on most islands.
