The City of Waterdeep

The city of Waterdeep is a port city located in the midwestern part of The Sword Coast, just south of The Sword Mountains. It is ruled by the Waterdeep Council which consists of 7 members where one councilmember holds the seat of Chairman/woman.

Demographics

The people of Waterdeep are a diverse people. Waterdeep has a history of being open to outsiders and trade, thus this has sparked the interests of many different kinds of people and cultures to settle in this prosperous city.  The vast majority of the population is comprised of the more common races of Faerûn (Humans, Gnomes, Elves, Dwarves and Halflings), other more "exotic" races also has taken up residence in the city.

The Castle Ward

The ward gets its name from the large castle that sits in the middle of it, which is the primary residence of the Open Lord of Waterdeep. The Open Lord is the ruler of the city, and their palace is an impressive structure with high walls and a moat. The castle is a symbol of the power and authority of the city's government.
The Castle Ward is also home to many of Waterdeep's government buildings, including the City Watch  headquarters and the Palace of Waterdeep, where the city council meets. Additionally, the ward contains many of the city's wealthiest neighborhoods, with large, well-maintained homes and manicured gardens.
