Prestige Classes
Some classes are special. They cannot be attained by the average person or even many experienced adventurers. These classes are called prestige classes. They represent characters with more specialized skills than a normal class and can only be taken after attaining a certain level of power. Prestige classes are also considerably more rare throughout the world, so much so that it is unlikely many people would know of them unless they happen to have first-hand experience.
Before taking a prestige class, discuss with your dm how you started upon the path to learning it.
If you do take a prestige class, you have to finish it
Ainorian Prestige Classes
In order for a character to take a level in a Ainorian prestige class, they must have 5 combined levels in other classes and meet the prerequisites for the particular prestige class that they would like to level into. Taking a level in a prestige class works like taking a level in any other class, except for one thing. Unlike traditional multiclassing, some prestige classes allow the player to continue gaining spells or class resources from their base class. Whenever a class grants you a bonus to Base Spells or Base Resources, you can treat your base class as if you had one additional level for the purposes of spellcasting or for the purpose of a class resource, respectively. Your base class is the class with which you have the most levels that is not a prestige class. If you have an equal number of levels in two different classes, you may pick which class is your base class for the purposes of these bonuses.
Base Spells: Each point in base spells allows you to treat your character as if they were one level higher in their base class for the purposes of spell slots and spells known, as well as maximum runes and runes known.
Base Resource: Each point in base resource allows you to treat your character as if they were one level higher in their base class for the purposes of class specific resources. This includes: Rages, Inspiration Dice, Wild Shape charges and CR, Superiority Dice, Ki, Lay on Hands points, Favored Enemies, Sneak Attack damage, Grit, Flow, Bane, Flash Enchants, and Sorcery Points (Special: Sorcery points are gained at 1 point per 2 levels when gained from Base Resource boosts).
There may be some resources not listed due to the usage of non-standard classes and sub-classes. The general rule of thumb is if you gain some of a resource at each level, or if it’s on the class table and not a spell slot or spell/cantrip known, it is a class resource. Speak to your DM to see if a feature qualifies as a class resource.
