Fate is a fickle thing. The flow of time pushes events ever forward, and these events play out to their conclusions. Fate is not, however, set in stone. This is the guiding principle of the augur, one who reads and manipulates events through the power of fate itself. Augurs can see glimpses of the future and can use their skill to subtly influence events as they come. Their power comes at a price, however, as each time a destiny is changed, fate has a way of correcting its course. Augurs know to only use their abilities when they are most needed and to be cautious of the repercussions of denying fate its due.

Flux
At 1st level, you learn to bend the threads of destiny to avoid or ensure certain actions. Flux is the power of an augur to apply flexibility to what is otherwise an unyielding truth. This power is a double-edged blade and should be used with caution. You can apply flux as a reaction when any creature other than yourself takes any action that requires them to roll a d20. Flux can be declared after the roll but not after the result is determined. You can apply flux to any single roll you make on your turn as well. Doing so allows you to impose a bonus or detriment to the roll equal to your flux dice result. At 1st level, this dice is 1d4, and gains potency as you gain augur levels. You can use any dice size of equal or lesser size to your flux dice size as shown in the augur table.
Every time you use flux, you grant the DM an equal amount of flux to use, as the flow of fate will always correct itself. You may use flux up to 5 times at 1st level, gaining more uses as listed in the table above. You regain all uses of flux after finishing a short or long rest and unused flux accumulated by the DM is removed after you finish the rest.
Twist of Fate
At 1st level, your ability as an augur has heightened your awareness of surrounding events. You gain an additional reaction which you can only use to apply flux.
Spellcasting
At 1st level, you gain the ability to cast spells of divination, using your knowledge of fate and flux. You gain three spell slots of 1st level. These spell slot levels increase as you gain additional augur levels. You learn the following spells.
- Detect poison and disease
- Detect evil and good
- Detect magic
Each time you gain a level in augur, you can exchange one of these spells for a different divination spell of a level you can cast.
Wisdom is the ability modifier for casting these spells. All of your expended spell slots are restored after finishing a long rest.
Spell Attack Modifier: your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.
Spell Save DC: 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.
Portents
At 2nd level, your ability to predict future events has increased to a magical level. You can cast the spell augury without expending any spell slots or components. When cast using this ability, the spell has a casting time of one action. Additionally, the failure chance applied for multiple castings is reduced to a 10% accumulating effect (down from 25%.)
Deja Vu
At 3rd level, your knowledge of future events begins to focus, allowing you to glimpse entire event sequences, sometimes days ahead of time. As an action, you can activate Deja Vu, indicating that for the next 1 minute you have previously seen what unfolds. For the next minute, each time you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throwyou add (your augur level x2) to the result of the roll. Every subsequent roll, this bonus reduces by one. If at any point you fail a skill check, saving throw, or attack roll, this effect ends early as your interference with the chain of events has altered the moment to the point where you are no longer able to accurately anticipate what is happening.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
Armor of Knowing
At 4th level, you have seen glimpses of your own mortality. Whenever you would be hit by an attack that would drop you to 0 hit points or lower, or would fail a skill check or saving throw that would immediately lead to your death, you can activate this ability. Armor of Knowing allows you to repeat the skill check or saving throw, or conversely forces the attacking creature to repeat its attack. The new roll becomes the new result, and to all other creatures, it appeared as if the first result never occurred.
Flux Capacity
At 4th level, you have learned to use flux in a way that reduces the fallout when fate decides to return the favor. When the DM uses flux supplied by you, their result is now reduced by half (rounded up)
Prophetic Flash
At 5th level, you have learned to predict the future with startling accuracy. You can activate Prophetic Flash as an action, after which it remains active for 1 minute. This minute is then played out as a vision in your mind, and you may take any action you normally would, and the DM will tell you what would happen accordingly, including any skill checks or saving throws that this might cause. Nothing that occurs during this minute has any effects that last outside of the 1 minute period of Prophetic Flash, and is only an image of the near-future. You can only see the events directly involving yourself and gain no insight into the course of events that may result from the action of other creatures.
At the end of this minute, or if you lose consciousness during the vision, you return to the point in time immediately after you activated this ability. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before using it again.
