The Cabin Overlooking a Battlefield
The party finds a battlefield fought between Nullspawn and the Otsukese. In the far off distance, while Daniel made sure to cleanse the area, the party found a distant cabin. Within it, they found a lone wretch living alone, for in the basement, they found a familiar portal portal of the Null they had seen before but... this one was less rocky in its texture and more wooden, if the material could even be called such.
Daniel, naturally seeking to purify dark substances, began working on a means to remove such an abominable stain. During so, John began to indirectly antagonize Daniel, such as disrupting his ritual by throwing rocks and bits of wood through the portal to see what would happen. It would soon culminate into John diving for the portal while Daniel would also fall in while trying to throw John into it.
The wretch offered a makeshift, roughly drawn map and lantern for Bostwick and Cassius after it explained that it saw the Knave and an angel go down into the portal.
Domain of Blackrot
First through the portal, John quickly scurried up a tree while Daniel struggled to claw at him. Bostwick and Cassius were next through, trying to keep watch and keep the scene tame.
The Gunshot
In the midst of their bickering, a loud gunshot went off. This sent creatures scurrying. Bostwick then simply sat on a rock, insisting the others lay low as he played a flute. Sure enough, a small trio of wretches eyed Bostwick but decided against their chances before scurrying off.
Cassius scouted ahead, assessing that the village ahead was... approachable.
The Village
The party enters the village to find the few locals clustered around a terrible violinist. Just as the party was getting acquainted, the Hunter and Forester came by to deliver what they have found in the woods for eating: bodies of wretches and various animals.
Out here, it's eat or be eaten.
The party then sought out the Crone, a practitioner of magic the Village reluctantly works with. She explained that the party is cursed to be here but lucky to deal with an apathetic darker power. To leave these mists, one can venture far, far out, find a beacon, or hopefully find an agent of the higher power.
The Crone also explained that the Village did see the Seraph, such a pure and holy thing on a quest to stop the Nullspawn. Such a naive thing that has been imprisoned within this domain. It was last seen travelling toward one of the spare cabins.
Nightfall was approaching. The party decided to stay at the Village rather than with the Crone. Before they left, the Crone provided the party with two bottles of liquified tree flesh. The Hunter then guided the party back to the Village, all in preparation for nightfall...
