A Peculiar Ceremony

The party, having set up traps in the outdoor amphitheater, watch as night falls and the Artisans gather. Each Primarch of the six Primarchs all rally in attendance and begin by providing the "Offerings of Toil." Many of the bowls they brought is refuse from their occupations but have some form of proof that harm has been done. For instance, the party saw the bowl from the AID Director's office with viscera being provided. The military Artisans provided bloodied uniforms, those of Industry provided bloodied gears and snapped appendages, etc.

In the meantime, Daniel was panicking at the site of dark affinity being cultivated and insisted the party detonate the explosives. Cassius agreed but he compromised that the party sees the Ceremony in its entirety until the detonation is hit.

The Artisans then brought forth a massive statue of their patron demon, Vildramus. Through chanting and ritualistic movements, the statue slowly began to awaken.

Panicked, Daniel struggled with the control against Wrench and managed to hit the detonation early. This commotion did draw attention from the crowd but the blast became their new worry.

After the smoke and ash settled, the demon statue of Vildramus sneered, amused by such a play. He then called forth the Artisans in their wretched states to chase after the fleeing party. Gloria and Daniel were left traumatized, leaving Bostwick to drag them to the car. Cassius managed to swat off any attempts to slow them down while Wrench got the car to start moving in their escape.

Mournival: Not all can be Saved

The showing hints at what is to come, though not exactly with the Artisans...

Start at 3:20 mark if it doesn't automatically

The lights flash to the stage. On the sides is a haunting choir of actors to the flanks. On the main stage, it depicts another cluster of actors struggling to stay afloat in a tank of water. Another lone actor, a boater on a small craft, panics and throws a floaty to another actor, slowly reeling the one in.

However, a complication occurs, as another begins to tire and sink below. In a panic, the boater takes the floaty from the drowner and provides a weight to it so it can sink below the water. It then throws the device deep below, allowing the sinking actor to grab hold and ascend to the surface.

However, some swimmers desperately cling to the boat, hoping to survive but accidentally slosh some water into the boat each time they push and shove to get saved. The boater desperately tries to juggle between those able to stay afloat and those who are sinking. In the final futile moment, the boat itself begins to sink as the weight of the drowning pull it under. The last display depicts all the actors floating slowly downward to the bleak shadows below.

The Directors glare at the other from across the sides of the stage. The Critic especially huffs his disapproval, “You cannot save them all! There is only the certainty some may be saved and others perishing. Even the survivors may question why they were chosen over others.”

The Sage’s posture stiffens, “What if there were more boats? If only there was time to prepare, this all could have been avoided.”

The Critic shakes his head, “Ah, ‘what ifs’ and the ‘if only’s’. These are the words used by those who cannot accept the outcome of what transpired. Cry your excuses all you’d like, for you won’t be hearing what the deceased have to say..”

The Sage looks down, “Suffering is the only guarantee. When the water is rising, we’ll slowly start dying. We may never see a light again.”

There is an uncomfortable pause before the lights go out.

When the lights come back on, the Critic looks on, “That is all for today’s showing. Come again another time.”

Unstable Draconic Aura Works as a short range healing "pulse", will based. Spend 1 Fate: Reduce the severity of a physical condition of mild or lower for one creature in the zone by one step. Spend 2 Fate: Reduce the severity of a physical condition of mild or lower for all creatures in the zone by one step. I've read about that! You’ve read hundreds—if not thousands—of books on a wide variety of topics. You can spend a fate point to use Lore in place of any other skill for one roll or exchange, provided you can justify having read about the action you’re attempting.
