Necroment Species in Florenic Worlds | World Anvil

Necroment

Undead and Eyeless Servants

He lumbers on his olden legs,
And reaches with his slender arms,
And as he grabs the laundry pegs
Do be quick and sound alarms   All is quiet when he’s around
As he takes the laundry too
For he does not make a sound
All to get closer just to take you!   He’ll tie you up in his laundry sack
And with the peg and a pinch,
He then heads off for his shack,
That is when you’re his snack!

Basic Information

Anatomy

Necroments are humanoid in their shape. Their limbs are often too long and awkward, forcing them to bend a little bit at times.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Necroment are meat-eating undead. As expected, flesh from other humanoids is preferred by these creatures. Though, they can hold off their hunger through other animals.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Everything below the necroment’s eyes are expressive. Their mouths grin with menacing delight or frown in shock from surprise. Their lips are often dark blue or black. The eyes are absent, for flesh grows over them. Though, assuming the necroment is built off of a head, the eyes work normally but tend to become more lifeless in appearance.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Should a necroment ever have their eye covering removed, often it being an oversized hat, they will notice that skin has grown over where the eyes should be. How they see is rumored to be normal but they have a hard time discerning between what is beautiful and what is hideous. Though, such things don’t matter when their revealed eyes throws them into a fit of blind rage.

Civilization and Culture

History

Necroment were first founded during the Necromantic War. Count Constantine, a Dracul Vampire of the Arkonian Order, wanted to experiment with a method to reuse body parts by growing some facsimile of flesh off of them. Due to the period of their founding being during a war, plenty of parts were available and even some with varying levels of decay for variety. A lot of these variables allowed Constantine to inevitably find a sweet spot for the prime condition for acquired limbs and parts to be in.

The first few tries of developing that facsimile of life grew uncertain due to neither of that false flesh nor the body part connecting. The breakthrough occurred when Constantine grew the falsehood off of the severed limb. The next struggle was ensuring obedience which was easily done through simple magic to manipulate the dead. Thus, the new servants were born! What he would never understand are their aversion to having their eyes exposed to light. What he has theorized for now are whether or not if it is a cruel realization of their predicament and they lash out as a result. The light often reveals the darkest realities and harshest truths.
