Esterson Session 4
Abandonment in the Astral Clocktower
General Summary
Before Heading Out
Kastor and Antharine continued training but outside in the rain. The boy came back bruised and muddied. Festus insisted on finalizing his training as a bartender to ensure his readiness when the bar becomes open.
Because the party would be venturing into a Precursor ruin, they would need a means of translation. Akmen of the University of Renaki stepped in to be of aid.
Adventure of the Astral Clocktower
The party makes their way toward the site, only for a massive gust of wind to greet them at the sound of a chime. They then came across a Precursor cogwork tidying the village within the midst of the violent winds. It was unresponsive and paid little attention to the party. At the sound of the chime, the winds stopped. They then found the cogworks turned a red hue and were clearly hostile. They snuck past with ease into the clocktower station from there.
Within the clocktower, the party meddled with a bit of machinery and equipment in order to unlock the main clocktower. Using the clocktower’s terminals, they fiddled around and found a broken input for time stopping. It unlocked one of the doors and inside, they found Teresse and a cogwork in a slow-mo scuffle. They pulled her out of the way and kept her safe.
On the way back, Altor and Akmen conversed with one of the cogworks, as it explained that the Precursors were in a constant state of war over resources rather than anything grandiose or meaningful. Despite them being absent, the cogworks continue their creator’s work. They then ran off before the cogwork’s defensive protocol was chimed.
Back at Esterson Hall
On arrival back home, Inquisitor Arnsley Dorian arrived to personally deliver his quest to the Hall:
The case I have in mind is actually within the Province of Dulnmoor. The caels within the inquisition’s fortress suggest there is a Revered altar that is faltering and wish to know why. I would happily see to it but seasickness prevents me from seeing this task done efficiently. Which is why I reach out to you. All you need to do is escort a cael named Tiltren to the site and allow him to rejuvenate it. Nothing more complex than that.
Afterwards, Arnsley went about the Hall, questioning the nature of each member. Skelk was nearly spotted during the search but a distraction from Johan kept the little vician safe. Arnsley and his vicar assistant then headed off.
As Kastor tries his best to juggle being a bartender, some hecklers give him a hard time about his heritage. Festus then provided them sabotaged drinks so they passed out. From there, he and Darwin then dragged them out.
Within the dorms, Antharine had discussed that she would be interested in sparring with Maedhros in an attempt to understand his abilities. Emoru walked in, hoping to invite him, but believed she stumbled on personal matters between the two. Later, Emoru and Maedhros went into the main hall to clarify and chat about things. She asked that he promise to be a counselor for her if needs be. Maedhros agreed and went from there. After clarifying for Antharine’s sake, Emoru hugged everyone goodnight as good faith. But for Maedhros, Emoru’s hug was tighter than normal…
