Grand Lake
Basic Characteristics
Grand Lake is located in south-west Fairy Gardens. It’s not nearly the biggest lake in the world, but is one of the biggest lakes in the area, and a popular spot for local people and tourists to visit. It’s about 145ha big, approximately 2km long, and up to 30m deep. It’s surrounded by a forest, with a trail leading all the way around the lake.
Nature
Grand Lake is a home to many interesting plant and animal species that can be found in this area of the world. Here you’ll find many fish species, birds and forest critters that will come out of the woods to drink from the lake. Next to the trail leading around the lake you’ll see trees resembling something like weeping willows and on the banks you’ll find cattails and similar water based plants, while far out on the surface you can see various types of non rooted floating vegetation ( :D )
Resort
Grand Lake is considered to be a major point of interest in this area. People come here to walk the trail around the lake, explore the forest, relax near the lake, or have fun in the tourist center next to the lake. A small resort offers a restaurant/coffee shop, a souvenir shop, an activity center where you can buy or borrow different sports equipment for hiking or water sports you can do on the lake, a small shop with food and supplies and even a gym for days when the weather doesn't allow for outdoor activities. If you’re not the sporty type, you can also visit a recreation center where you can play board games, watch movies or even play video games. There’s a small Glitter Temple on the grounds as well that offers daily guided meditations and sells herbs and medications. There’s also a playground for children. You can also buy yourself a ride around the lake in a Unicorn drawn carriage.
A bit far from the main resort there is a small camping and picnic area, for those who want to enjoy life in nature for a few more days.
Keep in mind though, this area is only accessible on foot, with a Unicorn, or with a tourist train that drives here from the nearest town center. This is basically a tractor with some carts attached, but it will get you to your destination for an affordable price.
As with many other establishments in the area, the resort is entirely owned by one family who live on the ground and in the nearest town.
