The Glory force from the past

The Storm Cannon is a type of great weapon that created by the  old First Empire a long time ago. Unlike what everyone imagines weapons to be, Storm Cannons usually exceeds everyone's expectations in size. A Storm Cannon's barrel can be up to 25 meters long and its caliber can reach up to 3 meters. Thanks to the steel making prowess of the old Empire, the massive structure was able to operate freely once assembled.
There are no surviving Storm Cannon shells from the old time, but it is estimated that the direct damage range of a single shell can reach a radius of around 200 meters. Storm Cannons can be formed into four Cannons, as shown in all Storm Cannons existing facilities. This makes the firepower they provide in actual combat all the more terrifying.

Purpose / Function

The Original purpose of Storm Cannons obviously is for a great battle. However, during the somehow peace Era of the empire, such a great weapon actually have limitations, which only suitable for fighting giants, or large objectives. All Storm Cannons are oriented to the north at first. It most likely meant that the weapon was used for an unwieldy enemy that could not change direction. At the same time, the enormous power of Storm Cannons can also cause effective damage to the Giant; By contrast, using Storm Cannons against an organized human army would be much less effective.

Architecture

Without doubt that the main bodies of each storm cannon was totally made by steel, and the giant barrels are even made by a kind of special material called rust sacred metall, that is impossible to recreate now. For the remaining part, like the foundation and defense castles are normally made of stones and bricks, cheap and efficient. 
The design of the cannon base was totally follow the idea of efficiency, four storm cannons form a square, the logistics and living structures was built between the four cannons, and defense structure was all over to surround the whole Storm Cannon base.

Defenses

Storm Cannons are accompanied by a massive fortress structure. These fortresses varied in shape, some buried underground, others in semi-enclosed structures above ground. These forts contain large storerooms, presumably once used to store artillery shells. Each fort structure can accommodate nearly 1,000 people for a long time, and it also provides complete transportation and living facilities.

Tourism

Of course, these facilities fell into disuse with the First Empire. The massive facilities were gradually buried by wind and sand, and Storm Cannons were in such a state of decay that they could no longer be used. At last, these lost legacies find new uses with the help of nature. A few Storm Cannons in the vicinity of civilization were converted into residential colonies; Storm Cannons, who were mostly in the desert, turned into a refuge for bandits and some desert creatures. Thanks to the sheer size of the facility, a number of open passageways provide good ventilation inside, and thick walls that shut out the heat of the sun during the day, Storm Cannons are turned into cool nests favored by desert animals. The fortress bat, a species of desert bat, is perfectly adapted to this comfortable environment, spending all year only inside the facility to breed and hunt small desert insects.
