Rakia is the Central Continent of the Firmwold, and the most densely-inhabited continent. Its most important feature is clearly the inland sea Rakloro.
Surroundings & Relationships
To the southeast, Rakia is connected to
Timir by the Ranliehat Passage; to the northeast, it also connects to
Liassang.
To the east, between these passages, is the Sea of Oimo.
To the north and west is the vast Veric Ocean—a very stormy
portion of the Veric Ocean, to the west, to be specific. Rakians know the eastern portion of this ocean, bordering Liassang, as the Golden Gulf, which has some established shipping routes through it.
To the south lies Jalut Sea. Closer than the archipelago Pyskelser is the larger island Dusk's Halo.—a very stormy
portion of the Veric Ocean, to be specific.
Regions
All around Rakloro Sea, and between two great mountain ranges (Varothum Shield in the west, and the Zhawteeth in the east), lie the Seven Nations. (This designation, or the related "Seven Kingdoms," are older than the nations themselves—as one civilization has crumbled, another has taken its place in political prominence among the nations of the Sea.)
In the southwest, along the passage to the Jalut Sea, is the former powerhouse Omis. To its north is the gray elven magocracy Itha-iglonn, ruling the lands of Iglonnia. North of that is the kingdom of Hatine; then to the east, the vast Nysybi Kingdom. To the south is Kalitbel, in revolutionary turmoil; yet further south is Alghavor; and finally in the midst of them all is the seafaring island nation of Ina'ban.
All the land of the Seven Nations is separated from the rest of the world by another region: East Rakia-Jaw, which is east of the Zhawteeth Mountains and reaches all the way from the Golden Gulf in the north to the Jalut Sea in the south. This land is mostly desert, and is ruled by a nation of genies (and their sphinx leaders), who delight in charging steep tolls and tariffs to any merchants, pilgrims, or refugees passing through their territory.
