Tower: Shadespire
Built on a massive lake island in the northeastern part of Feodris, Shadespire is an imposing sight. Built out of stone less than 200 years ago, the corruption of Shadespire during the Shadow War left it a ghastly caricature of its ingenious original design. All spires and soot-stained, belching black smoke from dozens of fireplaces, stoves, and furnaces. Shadespire was one of the first places conquered during The Collapse and it served as a base of operations for The Profane for years before they relocated to Nightsand Tower for what they thought would be their ultimate triumph.
Tower Chancellor Konnelin Varna holds the corruption in a useful half-state. The mystical forces acting on Shadespire allow it to be a hub for the fabled and feared Coven, a pseudo-religious sect of diviners and witches trained for combat and possessing powerful investigatory skills. Much of the Coven's power stems from Shadespire itself. As repayment for access to the tower's power, the Coven serve as eyes and ears and private protectors of the Tower Council.
Some worry that the aging Varna is slipping in his hold on the encroaching shadow forces and wonder what would happen to the Coven, Shadespire, and Feodris as a whole if he were to lose the fight against the darkness or something were to happen to him...
