The Smooth Angels Dance Troupe

The Smooth Angels Dance Troupe (SADT) was an organization that operated in and around Grasmere for a number of years. They were a team of mercenary specialists who were hired clandestinely to perform sensitive jobs that skirted the boundaries of the Song of Harmony. Though there have been very few sightings of or credible news regarding the group for the past few years, an equal number of rumors swirl that they have disbanded and that they are still very much active.

Structure

The Smooth Angels broke their jobs down as such:

• The Choreographer — The person in charge, orchestrating jobs and allocating resources.
• The Director — A rotating role indicating a field team leader. For jobs requiring multiple teams, one individual was named Director and the others served as First Chair, Second Chair, etc.
• Stage Manager — "The Guy in the Chair"; often a field operative assigned to actively or passively observe and oversee the job, providing eyes and ears for the Dancers (operatives), running interference, and providing backup and support on an as-needed basis.
• Dancers — The field operatives. Their roles were further subdivided, see below for more details.

Dancers:

• Ballerina — Infiltration, subterfuge, forgery, acquisitions (e.g. Rogues; dexterity, stealth, sleight of hand)
• Conductor — Confidence, misdirection, distraction, disguise (e.g. Bards; charisma, persuasion, deception)
• Virtuoso — Support, enchantment, enhancement, contextualization (e.g. Wizards; spellcasting, arcana, history)
• Adagio — Brute, muscle, power, threat (e.g. Barbarians; strength, athletics, intimidation)
• Chaplain — Inspiration, divinity, restoration, safety (e.g. Clerics; healing, religion, medicine)
• Ensemble — May perform multiple tasks consisting of aspects of other roles, or may serve as fire support, extraction, protection, or distraction for other roles but generally does so without specializing in magical effects (e.g. Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Monk, Ranger)
• Orchestra — May perform multiple tasks consisting of aspects of other roles, or may serve as fire support, extraction, protection, or distraction for other roles, and does so specifically using primarily magical effects (e.g. Artificer, Sorcerer, Warlock)

History

SADT members refuse to confirm or deny whether they actually did employ any dancers. The official story is that the Dance Troupe moniker is merely a formality for bookkeeping purposes and that no single name could encompass all that SADT was capable of.
