Flying Metropolis

When the gnomes fled the chaos after the great devastation, they arrived on a solemn island of jagged rock and stone. With their ingenuity, they rebuilt in record time, however, they were not satisfied. They wished to further seclude their city from the world so that no tragedy would ever affect them again. Putting together a think tank of the greatest gnomes of the century, they managed to lift a massive chunk of the island into the air, far above any mountain peak. This floating island is now a massive cityscape, made of a cobbled-together sprawl that barely functions. Overcrowding has forced houses to be crafted onto houses that had been crafted on factories, towers balancing carefully against each other. Multiple levels and plates sustain a strange ecosystem of concrete and capitalism.

Wayside Isle

Below, the original island found years ago has been converted into a massive junkyard, where inventions abandoned or forgotten have been dumbed over centuries alongside garbage and waste. Scalpers and thieves from the mainland have been drawn to this heap, digging through whatever magical or scientific wonders may fall from the sky. What is decrepit and outdated to gnomes often proves as a phenomenal step in technological advancement to the mainland. Not all of these marvels are decrepit... some are dangerous, and a surprisingly large amount of them resent being thrown to the wayside.
