Crimson Hawk

Crimson Hawk is a custom FEATHER Battle Suit belonging to the Magma Guard of the Feather Corps. Piloted by Captain Akari of Olympus Mons, the infamous Cinder Demon, he is widely regarded as the greatest Featherman since the founding of the organization. During his 15-year tenure as Flight Lead of Red Team, he has zealously customized the Feather Frame from its standard loadout, adding a spinal arm subsystem for utility and reinforcing the right arm to act as a claw weapon for close-quarters situations. In addition, articulated weapon mounts were installed within the spinal arm subsystem to give Hawk access to a wider array of weaponry. While most Macroweapons produced by the Corps are compatible, Captain Akari tends to favor the Laz-gattler, micromissile rack, and dual Laz-katanas.   Another special modification made to the Battle Suit includes the Stage 4 FEATHER Operating System. Due to Captain Akari's unique history, Stage 4 FEATHER bio-integration is possible with a baseline of Stage 2. While the system has rarely been pushed to its limit, research into a Stage 5 system is ongoing within Olympus Mons' mechanical team.

Weapons & Armament

Standard

  • 2 x Nanoweave Dao
Derived from his personal experience wielding a Dao, Laz-dao's are the favored melee weapon of Akari's. Past iterations include a laz-plated and traditional metal variants.
  • 5 x Hawk Talons
The right arm of Crimson Hawk is enlarged and elongated. A hardened Nanoweave claw crushes and shreds most mass-produced Nanoweave armor in close-quarters combat.
  • Tri-burst Laz-repeater
Three Laz-vulcans mounted in a triangular position just below the pilot cockpit.
  • 2 x 200mm cannons
The dual 200mm conventional cannons are mounted on the top and bottom of Hawk's right forearm. These cannons are not capable of sustained fire and are best used as a zoning tool or as an unexpected close-quarters weapon.
  • 2 x Laz-katana
Though not as adept, Laz-katanas are stored within the spine of the frame for use with the spinal arm subsystem as defensive Laz-weaponry.

Optional

  • 750mm Howitzer cannon
A trophy from his battle with the Green Knight, this super-heavy weapon is mounted on Hawk's spine with minimal articulation or movement. A single round from this weapon can obliterate even hardened Nanoweave armor. However, it is extremely unwieldy and conflicts with Captain Akari's CQC fighting style. As such, it is only mounted in Crimson Hawk's Assault variant.
  • Micromissile rack
Another trophy from the Aznable Engagement, the Green Knight's shoulder-mounted swarm micromissile rack has been modified to be used via the spinal arm subsystem. The rack holds a payload of four missiles that, when launched, splinter into hundreds of micromissiles, saturating a target area. These micromissiles can be modified to produce a specific effect like smoke for interference or incendiary for area denial.
  • Laz-gattler
The final prize from the Aznable Engagement, the Green Knight's Laz-gattler has been modified to function with the spinal arm kit. Resembling the ancient designs of the "minigun" from Old America, the Laz-gattler boasts an impressive fire rate of 1,000 rpm, a feat formerly thought impossible for laz-weaponry.
  • Mobile Flak battery
Taken from the battlements on Olympus Mons, the Mobile Flak Battery is another spinal arm compatible armament. Though bulky and severely prohibitive of Hawk's legendary agility, the flak battery is an excellent conventional heavy weapon for defensive atmospheric engagements in Hawk's Assault variant.
  • Custom DG-096 anti-ship rifle
A long-range rifle designed for stationary use, Hawk has significantly modified the firing platform to reduce the unwieldiness of the weapon. While the shortening of the barrel vastly reduces its effective range, Captain Akari's fighting style almost guarantees he will be within range to inflict devastating damage.

Armor and defense

  • Nanoweave armor
  • Hardened Nanoweave shield (spinal arm variant)

Additional & auxiliary systems

  • Advanced FEATHER bio-integration (Stage 4)
An advanced variant of the Feather Corps' FEATHER Operating System, the Stage 4 application allows for a mean Pilot-Frame synchronization rating of 87.1%. Such a rating has only been recorded in the first FEATHER frames produced during the Corps' founding with the original Featherman Pilots and has long been thought impossible since.

With a Stage 2 baseline, Captain Akari is able to push suit performance well past the standard limiters on similar equipment. Stage 3 enables him access to the spinal arm subsystem while Stage 4 pushes all suit components close to their maximum theoretical output. It is unknown what a Stage 5 FEATHER integration system would be capable of or if Captain Akari is able to breach that monumental threshold.
  • 4 x Spinal Arms
The spinal arm subsystem mounted along Hawk's spine grants it access to four additional appendages (only available at Stage 3 integration). While articulation is relatively limited, they excel with defensive and ranged macroweaponry.

Originally designed as a component for a theoretical manufacturing system of Feather Frames by Magma Guard's Master Chief of the Armory, its inclusion in Crimson Hawk's standard loadout has drastically improved its battle performance beyond what could be expected of a single pilot.
  • Personalized Battlechem Cocktail
Captain Akari personally designed his Battlechem system to maximize the dopamine and adrenaline he experiences to keep him at peak performance during extended deployments and during his bafflingly difficult manuevers. This specific mixture would likely kill any other individual; but due to this and his inhuman constitution, the highest sustained G-force a Battle Suit pilot has experienced was the Captain during his fight with the Green Knight, clocking in at 18.8 G's.
