Personal history
Damien was born into the prestigous Laterem family. When Damien was young he was always told by his mother about how his family came up from being mere bricklayers to being the wealthy family they are today. His mother told him that the Holy Grail itself brought fortune unto the Laterems. After she died Damien became obsessed with finding the Holy Grail to try & resurrect his mother. His other family members shamed him, telling Damien that the Holy Grail only brought misfortune unto their family. Unsatisfied with this revelation, Damien set out to find the Holy Grail himself. Eventually he comes across the Cup of Jamshid & finds out about the Holy Grail ritual. Damien travels to Hawaii & uses his "Holy Grail" to summon Amir Arsalan. Arsalan explains how the Holy Grail War works & Damien resolves to make the Holy Grail a brick, so that his family's beginnings will never be forgotten.

Damien summoned Arsalan using the Cup of Jamshid, the 7 ringed cup from Persian mythology. Their contract ended when Damien succumed to Orochi's poison.
