Taiga Kuvaal (/'taɪ.ɡə kuv.'ɑːl/)

Taiga is one of, if not the most powerful of the True Gods. His relative power comes from his natural talent and affinity for physics and maths and savant-like ability to see patterns in the universe; how he sees the world makes it far easier for him to understand and manipulate matter. In earlier years he shared his knowledge with mortals, but became disillusioned by their greed, retreating to his Tower for longer and longer periods until eventually locking himself inside for 1500 years (ME 520-2000). He finds his way into the background of most happenings in the world, be it by making enemies or causing domino effects. He is generally seen as condescending and antisocial; his degree of intention to come off that way varies over time.

Biography

Early life

Taiga Kuvaal was born in Viraloc in AE 14 to (family situation). He was named for the Taiga River Valley, and for the Avalid word for forest from which that name came.   He did not follow any social rules, was very particular about his activities, surroundings, and experiences. His wardrobe consisted entirely of the same outfit; he ate the same things every day. He wanted only to engross himself in studying physics and maths. If he had to talk to another person, he would speak only about how he saw equations and geometry everywhere. He found discussing other people impossibly boring.   Though this was just how he was, people hated these qualities. He was bullied by his schoolteachers for not making proper facial expressions and by his neighbors for not coming to local meetups. But he was happier for it: he never found any joy from social interactions, and this way, nobody tried to befriend him. The only downside was money; without the ability to conform to society, getting a job, even with his knowledge, would be impossible. Luckily for him, that would not be a worry much longer.

Godhood

Becoming a god.
At age 14, (he becomes a god idk)   Given the knowledge he had already acquired and the way his brain was structured, he quickly learned to harness his abilities and become the center of attention in the area. While other gods slowly became known over the next couple decades as they realised their potential, Taiga instantly grew near the height of his power and renown. He was quickly known to the continent and the broader world as the most powerful God out there.   Viraloc was especially enamored by Taiga, and he found himself with immense influence over them. Though he opposed any worship or connections to religion, citizens still looked to him with awe and reverence. Suddenly, everyone wanted to hear him talk about his interests. Nobody called him rude when he didn’t understand social cues. Nobody bothered him when he wanted to be alone, or made him eat or wear things that hurt him. How could he not engage with them? He told them everything he was thinking, the inventions he’d dreamed up. He drew diagrams conecting the world geometrically, and showed them models of molecules and cells as he theorised them. The citizens eagerly learned from him and helped him realise his inventions. Viraloc quickly became the world’s center of technology.   He could not have possibly known this would eventually become a bad thing.
Aria
In (year) Taiga met Aria, a Lizard from the River Valley who hoped to find ways they could learn physics without sight. Taiga grew attached to Aria; they too had a unique worldview and struggles unknown to the majority, and they treated Taiga as a human instead of a God. When Aria died, Taiga, feeling the world was worse off without their perspective, placed their body in a machine in the Inverted Tower in the Arid Desert. Aria would stay preserved here for 1400 years, until in ME 1998 the Arids used the machine to resurrect them. (see below for continuation.)
pollution sets in.
The world was catching onto Viraloc’s technological strides. They too saw the possibilities of automatic machinery, internal combustion, and steam. Soon everyone was doing it. Factories went up; coal mines multiplied. Sitting at the top of the Tower he’d built with his Magic, Taiga found he could not even see the mountains past all the smokestacks pouring pollution into the atmosphere. He and the other Gods could see it was affecting people’s health, and The Planet’s. He could practically watch in real time as species died off, the planet warmed, lakes dried up.   He worked to come up with better solutions, but he needed the input of the mortals who had helped him so much before. But when he went to them, speaking of solar panels, geothermal reservoirs, and wind turbines, suddenly they turned him away. They didn’t need his less efficient, more costly methods. They had infinite coal, and it burned so well. Time and again countries wanted nothing to do with safer methods.   At a loss, and angry at mortals for turning their backs on his favours without so much as a thank you, he retreated to his Tower. With Pen and (cl), he attempted to concoct new, even more efficient energy sources to persuade the mortals to change their ways. But his options were nuclear energy -- no, we can’t trust such selfish, short-sighted people with the ability to level the entire planet -- or efficient magic -- no, we can’t give away the secrets of our immortality.
he skips time.
Disillusioned, he abandoned the concept altogether and began working on his own curiosities, completely closed off from others, like he had when he was little. Magic had such potential if used optimally. If used in extreme amounts, could it alter time itself? He had once theorised the possibility of an object so dense, time slowed down near it. Or, if he could pull all movement out of an area, would time stop?   He decided to run an experiment. (taiga freezes himself in place for 1500 years)   To him, only a few hours had passed before all the Gods were suddenly standing in his doorway. The mortals had gotten even greedier, they said. He looked out of his cloud-scraping Tower: now several buildings reached near its height. Smokestacks were replaced by chemtrails and questionable white fumes; steam and coal-powered factories with electricity and computers.   What was once a Tower only he could enter was now bustling with scholars and guards carrying electric weapons. Though mortals turned their heads and recognised him, they spoke a language he could not understand and performed gestures he didn’t know how to respond to. (more)
