The Glayswen Confederacy
Structure
The Confederacy works together in mutual defense while retaining sovereignty over their own internal affairs. The member states of the Confederacy include: the Kingdom of Glayswen, the nation of Darellon, and the Elven Leagues.
The nominal head of the alliance is the King of Glayswen, followed closely by delegates of the other nations and military officials.

The Glayswen Confederacy is a political and military alliance formed in the interest of mutual defense against the advances of the Brovian Imperium.
History
The Confederacy was initially conceived in the year 1398, in reaction to the warmongering of the Brovian Imperium under the indecisive reign of Emperor Braid. The Imperium had begun a push into the nation of Darellon and the King Rinilek of Glayswen reasoned that should that country fall, it would only be a matter of time before the Imperium attempted further conquest, eventually including his own kingdom.
Seeking a means to counter this, Rinilek sent envoys to Darellon and the Elven Leagues to test the prospect of forging an alliance. Negotiations proceeded until the death of Emperor Braid and the coronation of Marden, who quickly called for an end to the war.
This lull in negotiations was short-lived as new tensions arose due to Emperor Marden increasing industry and modernizing his nation. With new technological developments and a rise in nationalism during the Imperium's peacetime, it was speculated by the other countries that it would only be a matter of time before these advancements were turned against them during a new invasion. The alliance was formally created in 1409 as the member states rushed to develop themselves to par with the Imperium.
In the following years, various dissident groups within the Imperium were formed with the backing of the newly formed Glayswen Confederacy in hopes of somehow destabilizing the goverment or triggering a popular revolution among the people. One such group of Brovian citizens organized an assassination plot on the Emperor while he was traveling on his personal steam train. A bomb was planted on the tracks and detonated as his private car passed over. The armored car, a gift from the Dragonborn Principality, saved his life. However, a secondary bomb was thrown into the midst of he and his surviving retinue as they prepared to flee the area.
The new, current Emperor, Marden II, uncovered the nature of the plot and was quickly urged to declare war by his advisors and citizens. The Glayswen Confederacy was now in the very war it had sought to prevent.
Technological Level
Rudimentary steam engines have become commonplace, having been adapted from early Brovian models. Paddle steamships have been increasing in number for sea travel and trade. A rail network for trains is also developing, though the bulk of rail lines travel between Glayswen and Darellon. The dense forests of the Elven Leagues have prevented expansion, further hampered by the conservative Elves that fell trees selectively.
