Getru
Chieftan
Chief Getru was a Kobold and leader of the tribe inhabiting Morhid's Roost, an expansive cave system within the trunk of Inner Jord's dead volcanic peak, that included ancient Dwarven mines as well as tunnels leading into the Underdark. He was a fair ruler, though defensive about his people and distrustful of outsiders given that Inner Jord had become the world's greatest prison long before he was hatched. His prime concern was keeping the tunnels linking Inner Jord to the mainland secret so that his tribe wouldn't face assult from the island's desperate inmates seeking to escape.
In early 1436, his warriors captured The Bad Luck Blitzkrieg adventurers during their attempt to escape Inner Jord using the tunnels of his tribe. He was also cross to discover that the outsiders had been receiving direction from one of his own people, Niks.
He was at a loss of how to handle the situation given the events that were taking place at the time: the cult devoted to their deceased dragon overlord was being stirred into a frenzy by an effort to resurrect her. He couldn't make a move against the priests and if the cave's eponymous Morhid were to return then the he would likely be cast out. Luckily it was taken out of his hands when Mymmassed, the daughter of Morhid, used her telepathy to call the party back to her den. Soon after followed was an intense battle in which the Blitzkrieg killed the kobold priests in the midst of their resurrection ritual. He expressed his gratitude, but still demanded that the party leave his domain and not reveal their method of escape once gone.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Getru is in his early forties and physically capable. As chieftan, he is expected to be strong and to lead his people personally when a situation calls for it. Despite spending most of his time within Morhid's Roost, he still trains among his people to show his capabilities and fitness.
Apparel & Accessories
Though he is the chief of a Kobold tribe, they are largely isolated from the larger world. As such, Getru lives a practical life without much luxury. But among his possessions is a surprisingly elaborate headdress he wears as a sign of his office, the base of which is made from a skull to form an effective crown, then embellished with an array of feathers over the top and inlaid with metal trinkets that dangle from the sides. He is also draped with cloth of different colors and materials and wears a few armor pieces scavenged from the abandoned Dwarven fortress above.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
From his youth, Getru was considered the reincarnation of a great warrior. Doubly so as he was the recognized offspring of the current chieftan at the time. He couldn't rest idly on that fact however. He was expected to be a capable leader and worked hard to become one. He became chief himself at a relatively young age, but was able to secure his control with support of many of his fellow Kobolds that had witnessed his prowess and interacted with him firsthand. He had been leader of the tribe for nearly two decades by the time he encountered the Bad Luck Blitzkrieg in the spring of 1436.
Intellectual Characteristics
In the harsh realities of life on Inner Jord, Getru was rather intelligent. As such, he was practical and level-headed with everything he encountered. His largest concern was the safety of the Kobolds he was leading. When the Bad Luck Blitzkrieg was brought before him, his main concern was whether they would reveal the existence of the path that essentially led directly to his doorstep. The only thing that was a greater issue was what would happen when Ritual Master Snalbe finally managed to resurrect the dragon Morhid and how she would likely not look favorably on him.
He faced both problems with a pragmatic approach: he would allow the party to leave without harassment, but they had to sabotage the resurrection ritual in some way that would see Snalbe unable to attempt it again for the foreseeable future. It was the best way he could imagine that would maintain stability among the bulk of his people and also utilize the stronger outsiders without risking personal exposure in the plot.
