Tavish and Finnegan

Brotherhood not from blood of the womb, but from blood spilled for a worthy cause

Tavish and Finnegan are the only members of the Columbia Edgewater Country Club who are not themselves hunters. At least not presently. Today they serve as the butler and groundskeeper for the club, respectively, and live to serve the Edgewater Hunters in their ceaseless vigil of Cascadia's beastly populations.   Tavish is an old man who looks even older than he actually is. His hair is prematurely grey and his face is marked with the many scars typical of an ex-hunter. He walks slowly, with a limp born from an injury he sustained years ago that put him in the position of permanent retirement. Add to that his failing sight and the once proud Local descendant of Vault 41 could easily be mistaken for a hobbled old fool. But the many trophies adorning the Country Club's halls bearing his name speak of history of successful hunts greater than any other member, and there is a glint in those clouded eyes that suggests he isn't entirely without his legendary marksmanship just yet. Regardless, his hunting days are long since passed thanks to a crippling encounter he had with the beast referred to only in hushed whispers as the Wendigo. As a native of Portland, Tavish is well aware of the Wasting Herd and the monster they seem to revolve around. While many hunters and many more beasts have come and gone, none have successfully managed to complete the old man's final hunt. Such is the list of names crossed off in pursuit of the beast that Tavish has long since given up on telling others of its existence let alone sending prospective Edgewater glory-hounds after it, and not just because he has lived to believe in the old myths about drawing the beast's attention by speaking of it.   For his part, Finnegan is a far simpler soul. If he can even be said to have one. Tavish isn't sure when exactly the old Handy came to be a part of the Edgewater crew, as Finnegan was already there when he joined many years ago. He reckons the robot originally came from the Oregon Trail Museum down by Happy Valley, on account of his constant ramblings about savages and wagons and needing to ford the river. This stubborn personality matrix has been a persistent pain in Tavish's side for years, as has the robot's seemingly stunted memory storage capacity. His memory banks have had to be wiped at least a dozen times as they are constantly filling up, which has led to many incidents where Finnegan's original programming kicks in and he takes up whatever there is to hand in order to "defend his right to Manifest Destiny!" from any unfortunate enough to be nearby at the time.   The two have been an unlikely pair for a long time. Tavish even begrudgingly credits Finnegan for saving his life on the night of the Moda Garden sabotage, as they had been late to the meeting that night thanks to the robot's slow speed and his own lameness. He had been attending on behalf of the Edgewater Hunters for the all-hands meeting that had been called that night to deliberate on the subject of the Guardians and General Horn. This makes Tavish one of, if not the only surviving members of the Coalition of Cascadia Reborn.
