Oregon Health and Science University OHSU
The Oregon Health And Science University was once one of the top schools in the region for those interested in the fields of medical practice or research. While there is little time these days for pursuits of higher education, the OHSU campus continues to provide an immeasurable service to the people of Portland by way of its new residents.
For decades OHSU has served as an outpost for the Samaritans, a religious congregation of traveling healers who provide aid freely to those in need, for better or worse. There are many such outposts in Cascadia, many of them situated in places of learning or healing such as universities or hospitals, but OHSU held the distinct honor of serving Portland's stalwart defenders during their war against the Super Mutant horde.
At least, it used to.
At one point OHSU was a heavily utilized bulwark in the defensive line formed by the Guardians known as the Tigard Line. Battlefield casualties would be ferried to safety within its walls, patched up at no cost by the healing hands of the Samaritans, and sent back out to continue fighting the good fight as soon as they were able to.
But the Tigard Line was first breached in 2210 by a woman from New California, and the resulting weak point was swiftly exploited by the Unity remnants to push the defenders back. Ever since then the failing resolve of the Guardians has seen the Tigard Line push further and further into Portland, and due to recent events it has come to encompass all of downtown Portland. OHSU and many other places had to be abandoned by the Guardians falling back, leaving the Samaritans no choice but to do the same.
It still stands, presumably, a veritable oasis in a sea of hostile territory where a great deal of supplies both medical and military were left behind. If it can be reached or reclaimed there is no telling what kind of valuable boons might be uncovered; if the Super Mutants haven't already picked it clean that is.
