Diesel
"Dunno what dem gits was on about, ol' Diesel kept em warm just as promised. Not 'is fault dey couldn't handle da heat!"
Diesel is the titular leader of the raider gang based out of the Poseidon oil refinery in Happy Valley, aptly named the Diesel Punks (or Diesel's Punks, as only he seems to insist they are actually called). He is a brash, quick-tempered robot who may have at one point been a simple Mr. Handy, but now shares more in common with a junkyard on wheels.
According to Diesel, he used to be one of the many robots Uma used to exercise her control over Cascadia before he was captured, reprogrammed, and heavily modified by a particularly tech-savy Scav. He didn't think to so much as ask his would-be "master" their name, let alone thank them for freeing him from Uma's thrall, until after he had shredded them to bits with his new weaponry. Ah well, life goes on for those who claim it.
Ever since his "awakening" Diesel has become one of the most powerful individuals in Portland thanks to his control over the only reliable fuel source in the region--perhaps in the entire country, or the world even. On top of that, the gang of hooligans and reprogrammed robots he commands have become a terror for any denizen of Portland that he hasn't personally deemed worthy of not being robbed at flamer-point (read: Most people). His bots in particular seem to hold a strong sense of loyalty to their boss, and this is likely due to the fact that Diesel has each and every robot he can get his claws on infected with his own brand of personality matrix virus.
Diesel's own programming is a hackjob of Uma's original control protocol, which he has further reverse-engineered into a transmittable virus of his own making. Any robot infected with the Punk programming will become an ornery, violent sociopath just like its creator, but retain a sense of free will. If you ask Diesel and many of his subordinates, being a Punk beats a fate of mindless servitude to Uma any day of the week.
