Fort Buck

Purpose / Function

One of the first bunkers discovered by the Enclave when they arrived in the KOP Wasteland, Fort Buck serves to act as the Enclave's main base of operations outside of the Presidential bunker. It is considered rally point alpha and is the primary location where enclave recon and scavenger units are dispatched across the KOP Wasteland. The primary objective of Fort Buck is to act as the rallying and fallback point for the Enclave forces stationed in Pottstown and Fort Juno.

Alterations

The above ground section of the bunker had its blast door resealed and reinforced by the Enclave when they first discovered the bunker. In addition to this, the internal systems of the bunker were upgraded and repaired by Enclave engineers and some Institute scientists.

Defenses

The main structure of the fort is comprised of the traditional brick and concrete walls that is standard for most military installations. For the sake of secrecy, the Enclave has only reinforced the main blast doors of the base and added hidden laser and plasma turrets around the perimeter of the base. Inside the above ground structure, the main room of the bunker acts as an interior kill box, ceiling mounted laser turrets dot the four corners of the room and a slit in the far blast door allows for the troops housed within the bunker to shoot out at any would be attackers who breached the exterior door. The blast door to the main section of the bunker is locked with a computer terminal electronic lock that will trigger an alarm if tripped.
The main interior of the bunker beyond the blast door is the non-mission critical aspects of the bunker, storage spaces and the main Lockeroom and cafeteria of the bunker is on this level. The next level is far more expansive, and encompasses the training area, barracks, and armory of the bunker. The third floor of the bunker is for the upper command of the Enclave forces stationed here and is also the location of the intelligence and surveillance technology used by the Enclave to monitor both the bunker and the surrounding area. The final floor of the bunker is the mission critical floor, and houses all the primary infrastructure needed to maintain and staff the bunker.

History

Fort Buck was constructed during the Great War as a forward operating base meant to direct and house many of the soldiers required to repel the Chinese forces that were feared to be making landfall. The base was never staffed long, when the Great War occurred the doors to the bunker below the main fort were sealed and the fort left to be bombed. When Enclave forces first moved into the KOP Wasteland in 2268, they began searching for pre-war military installations. Fort Buck was one such installation, as the Enclave discovered it in 2270 and used it as the primary base of operations until the discovery of the Presidential Bunker.
Fort Buck still serves as the main operating base for the Enclave outside of the Presidential bunker, it is from here that many of the Enclave's salvage teams and recon teams are dispatched and it is also the main inlet for intelligence recovered by the Enclave and its spies within the KOP Wasteland.
