Vörkohz' invasion of Musqarbar
The Conflict
Prelude
The Irex of the Old Xjinn Empire, after they became independant states had become forced to expand into new lands. For Vörkohz, decades of poisoning the Tyrqohz river has turned the lands near the Irex foul. Homesteads have pushed further north towards the Kharian Basin and it's fertile wetsoil.
For years, these homesteaders have been in conflict with the Tralfolk of the region. As Vörkohz expanded the Tralfolk communities and settlements have been forced back deeper into the Kharian Basin. Furthermore, the Tralfolk connected with the Kharian Brynd and allied with them to push back against Vörkohz.
These border skirmishes and raids escalated to the point where Vörkohz employed their armies to secure the colonial gains once and for all.
Deployment
In the initial phases of the war, the army of Vörkohz invaded the region of the Kharian Basin called Muqarbar. The forested depression impeeded Cavalry and obstructed the tight infantry formations, but the discipline of the invading troops continued to force the Tralfolk and Kharian Brynd North.
The Vörkhoz advance stalled at the Kyg Ket Lakes. The two lakes, the Pa Tyv Var Bay to the East and Gaz Tur Lake on the West leave only three narrow banks to reach the Tralfolk and Kharian strongholds. Unable to apply their superior strategic might Vörkohz chose to outflank.
Vörkhoz sailed north of the stagnant front and landed a Legion on the southern coast of the Taur Ymagâr forest then invaded Rausc Kell to the north of the vulnerable Cadral Marsh.
Battlefield
Conditions
The terrain at the Kyg Ket lakes is very adverse to the heavy infantry and field engines Vörkohz employs. The army on this front has been forced to adapt to the saturated terrain. Their formations and field tactics, however rely on the protection of strong, heavy armor.
Rausc Kell, while compatable with heavy infantry, heavy cavalry and field engines is also recently occupied. The Kælic Bryndffolk, which are traditional rivals of the Kharians, have been provoked by the sudden invasion and occupation of their land. The northern front here is vulnerable to partisan resistance.
