Astra is an ancient high elf of few words and unmatched discipline, known as the founder and Swordmaster of the Silver Flame Blade School.

History

Early Days

Although she keeps relatively tight-lipped on her activities in her long, long life - usually simply stating that she has wandered and trained - there are a few details she seems willing to admit to. First of all, her name is not Astra. She claims to not remember her true name. She had played some part in the early days of Cormyr's formation, and traveled with Faerlthann Obarskyr for a time. Not long after this, she gained immortality through a wish. She had, largely, stayed away from the area since then for reasons she doesn't share, nor does she mention why she returned.

Yanseldara's Gambit

Although not directly taking part in many of the events leading up to The Elversult Disaster, Astra was in the thick of it, assisting those who resided in the small (at the time) village of Lavish. She, along with her small cohort of trainees, protected the town from invading pirates from the coast, as well as bandit raids from the mountains to the north. Astra herself often went hunting in the Storm Horn mountains, bringing back large bounties of Wyvern meat for the town to eat while the food shortage was ongoing.

The Silver Flame Blade School

Astra is the founder and current Swordmaster of the Silver Flame Blade School, a renowned martial institution based in the coastal city of Lavish. Established nearly 50 years ago, the school was created with the support of Lavish’s ruling lords—Griffith and Ebzire—who saw the potential in Astra’s vision for a disciplined, elite fighting force independent of traditional military hierarchies.
The school's earliest days were humble, and its first students were far from ideal: pirates, mercenaries, and bandits, drawn more by coin and curiosity than honor or purpose. Astra, undeterred, instilled discipline through brutal training and unyielding expectations, reforging each of them as warriors worthy of the blade. Her uncompromising methods shaped the foundation of the school's martial tradition, where excellence is earned and weakness is burned away.
Astra remains the Swordmaster of the Silver Flame, an unrivaled title held only by her. In the decades since its founding, the school has grown into a disciplined order of nearly forty students, who now serve as Lavish’s primary defenders.
Though distant and aloof, Astra is fiercely protective of her students and the principles the school was built upon. Few ever earn her personal instruction, but those who do often become legends in their own right. In the eyes of her disciples, Astra is not just a master of the sword—she is its embodiment.

Though she has mellowed with age, the core of her being remains steadfastly Lawful Good—a beacon of principle, purpose, and personal honor. To Astra, morality is not about control—it is about honoring the oaths one chooses to make.
Like many elves, Astra is inclined toward a “live and let live” philosophy. She does not involve herself in the petty struggles or politics of others unless they threaten lives or violate sacred bonds. But while she does not demand moral perfection from others, she expects honesty—and abhors betrayal. Promises, oaths, and duties are not casual things to her; they are sacred, binding, and eternal. Breaking one in her presence is among the few ways to truly earn her disdain.
Astra herself is a woman of few words. She speaks plainly and with great weight, but rarely reveals her full thoughts. Her truth is in her blade—in its silence, its clarity, its precision. For Astra, action always speaks louder than philosophy. She does not preach. She teaches by example.
At the core of her life is a singular obsession: the pursuit of perfection through the sword. She has spent centuries refining her techniques, pushing beyond mortal limits not through divine gifts or forbidden power, but through relentless, ceaseless training. Many believe that Astra now rivals lesser deities in pure martial prowess—a living testament to what discipline and focus can achieve.
Though she does not demand that her students walk the same path, she expects them to walk their own with integrity.
