The Pillar of Carcharodon

Located on The High Moor is the Pillar of Carcharodon, a large ruined tower of the Kingdom of Miyeritar. It was used as a astronomy tower by a group of magi known as the Carcharodon Astra, they used it to study the stars and chart the movements of the planets and the planes beyond. They disappeared with the fall of Miyeritar along with most magical orders from that doomed kingdom.

The tower itself is a shadow of its former glory. Consisting of only three floors with the rest of the tower having collapsed off the cliff the Pillar rests on. The vista looks out over the forest of western Faerûn and further on to the sea. It is said that the residual magic of the tower lets a viewer see far further past the horizon than any other place on the Sword Coast. On a clear day you can see the faint outline of Waterdeep or even, down south, the peninsular continent of Chult.

The tower is one of the more accessible locations on the moor. This is due to a number of marked and warded paths created by adventurers and researchers. The monsters also know to avoid the path due to the fact that most visitors are armed or can cast spells. Some of these visitors eve report seeing the tower being ethereal and repaired on clear nights with the moon shining down. Some people have even disappeared when visiting it on nights of the full moon.
