The High Moor

Created in -10,400 Dr the High Moor is all that remains of the kingdom of Miyeritar. The high magic kingdom was destroyed during the Crown Wars by Vyshaantar Empire's magics. Terrible necromantic bombs were used to destroy the life of whole country sides and villages. Miyeritar was destroyed in a week. Any one who survived did so by escaping either out of the kingdom or to another plane.

The High Moor is a large, monster-infested, open moorland in western Faerûn, and is bordered on the east by the Serpent Hills and on the west by the Misty Forest. It is also bordered by a low swamp that acts as run off from the Hark River. The rest of the moor is a large hilly and rocky landscape doted with ruins and monster infested dens.

The types of beasts to be expected when exploring the moor are even more varied and numerous than the would be treasure seekers who die to them. When in the swamps expect giant crocodiles, spiders both normal and giant, trolls, hydras, and other aquatic nasties. When on the moor itself expect everything from wyverns to velociraptors and all manor of ancient traps, defenses, and constructs left over from Miyeritar. Many an adventurer has been slayed explosive runes or an stone golem hidden as a grotesque.

But still with all this danger people still flock to the High Moor in search of treasure and danger, and what treasure they will get. The ruins of Miyeritar are full of ancient but functional magic items, electrum and platinum coins, relics of unfathomable power with arcane methods of activation, and eldritch secrets of long dead magi.
