The throne is held by King Azoun V, a mere toddler at 2 years old, born in 1371 DR to Azoun IV and Queen Tanalasta Obarskyr, who also died shortly after her husband due to illness exacerbated by the war (Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting). Azoun V is under the regency of his aunt, Princess Alusair Obarskyr, known as the Steel Regent, a fierce warrior and capable leader who rules with the support of the Royal Magician Caladnei and the Purple Dragons’ Lord High Marshal Baron Thomdor. Alusair, in her early 30s, governs with a pragmatic hand, balancing noble factions and external threats like Sembian expansion, while raising her nephew to eventually assume the crown. The Obarskyr family remains a symbol of Cormyr’s stability, their rule reinforced by magical oaths and the loyalty of the War Wizards, though political tensions simmer as nobles vie for influence over the young king in this fragile era.
