The House of Merchants
The House of Merchants is the seat of power in Ylraphon. The council of merchants meets there on the first of every tenday to hold public discussions and make announcements. A few of the council reside in the House, but many prefer to live elsewhere in Ylraphon. Each is an appointed local merchant with sufficient influence to warrant a seat on the council. The number of seats changes but has never exceeded 12.
The House enjoys protection from many fortifications within and without; the Hunters of the nearby Horned Keep keep a close eye on the property and stand guard at all times. The building is a somewhat recent construction, meant to serve as a refuge for the entire settlement in dangerous times. Given the history of destruction in Ylraphon, steps have been taken to magically fortify the House of Merchants.
The House enjoys patronage from an historic local family, the Ilnatars. They offer individual counsel and diplomatic services to the merchants of Ylraphon. At least one Ilnatar tends to be present at the weekly town hall.
