Henry the Young King
King of England Henry Plantagenet
Eldest of Henry II's sons to survive to adulthood. Junior King of England from 1170 to his death in 1183. Henry - called King Henry III by contemporaries - twice rebelled against his father. In the later 1170s he made a name for himself as an enthusiastic and chivalric participant in tournaments. William Marshal was first his arms master, then the head of his retinue.
