Ingrid Tomah
Ingrid Tomah (née Moore) passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at the age of 36, from injuries sustained in a sudden storm surge event that struck Chogan Island to the north of Byer's Boughs. She passed together with her loving husband of 17 years, Charles Tomah and their 16-year-old son, Eric Tomah.
Ingrid was born April 4, 1964 in Tahki's Respite, Eydraumr to Kokokoho Moore and Kara Stigrsdóttir. Ingrid was known in the community as a skilled seamstress and reliable member of the community of Byer's Boughs. When she and her children were not traveling along the fishing routes on her husband's boat, The Rising Tides, Ingrid could frequently be found tending to the community garden or working in the Kemepowaw Hall with her grandfather, Matunaagd Moore.
She is survived by her 12-year-old daughter, Brenna Tomah, her parents, her paternal grandparents Matunaagd Moore and Watseka Moore (née Battiste), and her maternal grandfather Stigr Haldorsson.
She is preceeded in death by her maternal grandmother, the Völva Idunn Bergljotsdóttir, and her brother Snorri Moore.
Memorial services will be held at 10 am Friday, July 14, at the Kemepowaw Hall, with Elder Matunaagd Moore officiating.
Friends may call the Hall from 9am to 4pm Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 2pm to 6pm Friday.
Contributions to the memory of Ingrid, and to her daughter Brenna, may be made to the Keme Childrens' Fund of Eydraumr.
