Ceto - The Sea Witch
Ceto is the Goddess of the Deep Sea and the patron of Sea Monsters. She is a confident and wicked deity, who takes pleasure in the sinking of ships and the drowning of sailors. Many of the Sea Monsters that reside in the deep seas of Exorsia and the Elemental Plane of Water were originally the children of Ceto.
Ceto is the Daughter of Amphitrite & the God Poseidon, she rebelled from her parents after falling in love with the Goddess Echidna, who she is now the primary consort of. Together they birth horrific monsters into the world.
Because of Ceto’s reputation she is usually only referred to by epithets, such as “the Sea Witch” or “the Queen of the Depths” as to avoid invoking her or drawing her attention.
Ceto is not worshipped outside of specific cults, such as the Cecaelia who worship Ceto as their Divine Patron. Sailors may also beseech Ceto to avoid their ship being sunk.
