Kadesh: City of Jewels - Season 1 Ep. 5 Session 5
General Summary
They were surrounded, and had not viable way of getting away. Thus, on Carolina's command, were forced to stand down and let themselves be chained. Though Aeolus, Arsenius, and Eirkoris wanted to stand up to the enemy pirates, they knew they were outmatched. In addition, after seeing Carolina's face, they knew this wasn't exactly their fight.
All of them were bound in magic-supressing warded manacles along their wrist and ankles then chained together as they began to walk through the jungle towards the opposite side of the island then that of their ship.
When they broke the tree line, they could all she the massive ship that they had spotted on the opposite side of the island when they had arrived. Eirkoris tried to get some answer from Carolina, but she stayed silent. They were all put onto rowboats and were brought to the ship. Once on the ship, named La Santa Diavola, they were put into cages at the front of the ship, on the deck - Mirt and Eirkoris in one, Aeolus and Arsenius in another, Carolina by herself in another, and Brawn was manacled and weight down by weights that they had tied around him to keep him in place.
They stayed like that for the entire night, without food or water. During that time, Carolina was taken from her cage and brought into what seemed to be the Captain's Quarters, where the Tortle, Uk'Un'Evar, had been brought to when they arrvied on board. After an hour, Carolina adn Uk'Un'Evar returned and Carolina seemed shaken as they both were put into the empty cage. Aeolus, Arsenius, and Eirkoris began to pressure her about what was going on and Carolina told them that if they made it out alive, she would tell them everything.
After a night of little sleep, as the pirates made sure they stayed awake, Edwardo apporached them and stated that since Carolina wasn't being cooperative, he would show her the consiquences. He then procceed to take Eirkoris, Arsenius, and Mirt out of their cages, and bring them to shore where he planned to execute them. Carolina and Aeolus were taken out of the cages and made to watch. Without the ability to cast magic, Arsenius couldn't do anything and it seemed hopeless. However, just as Eirkoris was about to be executed by Edwardo, cannon-balls landed on the beach, fired from the Blood Rose. In the confusion, Eirkoris grabbed one of the distracted pirate's sabers and so did Mirt, who cut Arsenius' manacles, freeing Arsenius from the magic-supressing wards. As this was happeing, Carolina and Aeolus both took this distraction as a time to attack, with Aeolus having picked the manacles open and stealing a pirate's sword and breaking Carolina free. The Blood Rose swooped in next to La Santa Diavola, and a fight broke out between the crews of both ships. In the chaos, Brawn broke free and on the beach, Eirkoris, Mirt, and Arsenius managed to kill all of Edwardo's men. It seemed Edwardo was outmatched, thus, they watched as he jump into the water, transforming into a shark as he hit the water. Mirt, Eirkoris, and Arsenius all got onto the rowboats that were beached and made their way towards the Blood Rose.
On La Santa Diavola, it seemed to Aeolus that they were winning. Uk'Un'Evar had been securely brought onto the Blood Rose, but Carolina was insistant on leaving as soon as possible. Before she could answer Aeolus as to why, the doors to the Captain's quarters opened and a large man stepped forward, dressed in captain's attire and brandishing a beautiful cutlass. Aeolus only had time to take in the emerging figure before he lifted up his cutlass and yelled. As he did this, La Santa Diavola seemed to react and began to act alive, with planks of wood shooting up and impaling Carolina's crew that had come aboard. Now understanding why Carolina had given the order to retreat, Aeolus began to make her way towards the Blood Rose, managing to avoid the planks, ropes, and netting that shot at her.
She successfully got on board the Blood Rose, along with Carolina, Brawn, and the rest of Carolina's crew. As Carolina rushed up to the wheel, she instructed Aeolus to man the large, front facing cannon that was built into the front part of the deck. Noticing Mirt, Eirkoris, and Arsenius' rowboat and wanting to give Aeolus a good angle for the shot, Carolina swerved the Blood Rose infront of La Santa Diavola getting the ship close enough to Mirt, Eirkoris, and Arsenius that they could climb aboard and giving Aeolus a chance to shoot at La Santa Diavola, dealing a devstating strike that gave Carolina enough time to turn the Blood Rose around and escape.
Once they had made it a safe distance, Carolina gave the wheel to one of her crew and brought Mirt, Eirkoris, Arsenius, and Aeolus into her cabin. There she explained the whole story. That pirate captain was her father, Donovan Phiago Rodriguez, better known as the Dread Pirate. He was on a quest to find the legendary Saber of the Sea, something he had been obsessed with since Carolina was born and the reason her mother died. Carolina had left him twelve years ago, after her mum was taken and after her father became obssessed with getting her back. Carolina believed her mother was dead, but her father believed that he could use the Saber of the Sea to bring her back. Uk'Un'Evar, according to her father, was the way to find the Saber of the Sea. She had managed to find him before her father and keep him safe in Kadesh. Until Mirt was unknowingly hired by him and smuggled the Tortle out of Kadesh. She explained that the Tortle couldn't speak, only utter the words Uk'Un'Evar, and thus that is what they named him.
As Aeolus, Arsenius, and Eirkoris spent their next few days at sea, returning to Kadesh, they began to realize that in coming to Kadesh, they had unknowingly formed a party of adventurers who, while they had all come for different reasons, shared a bond that could not be ignored.
