Kadesh: City of Jewels - Season 1 Ep. 4 Session 4
General Summary
After the debacle that transpired at Braixen Warehouse, the trio took a night to rest. In the morning, they explored Mirt's Market. When they came back to the Slutty Ducky, where they were sleeping as Kevalan had given them free rooms for now as an apology, around noon, they saw Mirt was ready and waiting for them. After telling them to get into the carriage he had prepared and promising them food, they agreed and got in.
In the carriage, Mirt explained that he needed them to do something for him. Although they were all reluctant, they agreed when Mirt offered to pay them. He explained that they were going down to Carnation's Cove as he needed help clearing the debt he had racked up with the captain of the Bloody Carnations, the pirate group that ran the sector.
When they arrived, Mirt brought them up to a large red painted ship with gold accents, and red flags with a bloody rose insignia on its flags. As they approached, a figure swooped down in front of them on a rope from the boat. There, standing tall and proud, was the captain of the ship, Captain Carolina Phiago Rodriguez. A half-elven female, in her mid twenties, Captain Carolina sported red pirate captain attire and a large hat with a red feather plume. Her hair was a light blue just like her eyes. Her skin was tanned and she spoke with an unfamiliar accent. Carolina greeted them and then quickly began yelling at Mirt for showing his face here. The trio found out, that Mirt had smuggled someone out of Kadesh, someone who was under Carolina's protection. Thus, Mirt wasn't trying to get them to help settle his debt, he was trying to get them to clean up his mistake. When the trio said they would backout, Mirt pleaded for them to help him. After some convincing, they agreed, but only after Carolina assured them that Mirt would be coming too and wouldn't weasel himself out of this this time.
Aeolus, Arsenius, and Eirkoris were told they had two hours to explore carnation's Cove before the boat left, so they went and got some fish at the market and browsed a "magic" item shop before deciding to return back to the boat. As the boat left the harbor, the trio realized that they had just barely spent 24 hours in Kadesh before they left it.
The journey on the water took 4 and a half days. During that time, Aeolus spent most of it practicing using a spyglass, Eirkoris learned how to tie knots and hung out with the crew and Mirt, and Arsenius tried, very unsuccessfully, to get into Carolina's pants by breaking into her captain's quarters, stealing her bottle of wine, and offering her a drink. After Arsenius was escorted away from Carolina by a huge Orog named Brawn, he spent the rest of the time apologizing to Carolina and learning how to sail. After a brief bit of pirating, they made it to their destination, the Fanggorn Isles.
However, when they arrived, they noticed another boat on the opposite side of the island. Arsenius noticed that this visibly upset Carolina, though she would not elaborate as to why. Carolina instructed Mirt, Brawn, the trio , and a few other crewmembers to get into the row boats, as they all began to make their way to shore. As they were making their way to shore, they were ambushed by other pirates who had been hiding in the sand. As they fought off their attackers and continued to move forward, the other pirates brought out a cannon and shot the boat Eirkoris was in, twice. Luckily, they finished off the pirates before they could make another successful shot and Eirkoris was forced to swim to shore.
When they got to shore, Carolina instructed the remaining crew members to stay on the shore incase any of the other pirates returned. Then, Caro told Mirt, Brawn, and the trio that they were coming with her through the jungle to find where this person had gone. Mirt had no idea where they could have gone and explained that they just left them here to be picked up by whoever had hired him. Caro explained that the person who hired him was the other pirates and that they had to hurry.
As they journeyed through the jungle, they came across a rock that looked like the head of a snake. Upon closer inspection, they realized that it was the mouth of a cave that was being guarded by Lizardfolk. Carolina thought that the person might have been captured by the Lizardfolk and insisted on going in to check it out. After stealthily killing the Lizardfolk on the outside, the group made their way down into the cave. Mirt explained that this was most likely Serpent-Fang cavern, a cavern on the largest of the Fanggorn Isles that was said to be where Ahriman fell during the Primis Proelium.
While they descended, they managed to stray away from most of the Lizardfolk, only getting into a few scuffles. However, they eventually made it to the final chamber of the cave. IN the cave, they could see a large summoning circle in the middle of it and a cage which looked to have someone in it at its center. Before anyone could react, the seemingly leader of the Lizardfolk finished the ritual, and a large, frog like creature emerged from a portal that had opened at the center of the room and began to spew out water. The water quickly turned into a whirlpool which began dragging the group towards the portal. As this was happening, the frog-like creature jumped up towards the leader and bite its head off. A battle commenced, which culminated with Aeolus using the wind to save Brawn from falling into the portal and Arsenius killing the creature. As the creature's body got sucked into the portal, the portal closed and the water calmed. Carolina rushed up towards where the leader had been and began fiddling with the mechnaism that suspended the cage, eventually lowering it to the ground. As she did this, the trio rushed to the back of the room where they had spotted the Lizardfolk leader's treasure trove. After collecting what they could, they returned to see that the person they were trying to save was, in fact, a old Tortle who seemed to be very deranged. Brawn swept him up and began to carry him as they all made their way out of the Lizardfolk's lair.
Upon reaching the surface, they began to walk back to the beach they had landed at, when suddenly, they were surrounded by enemy pirates. They were greatly outnumbered, however, on step forward and greeted Carolina by name. He revealed himself to be her brother, Edwardo Phiago Rodriguez.
