Dear Journal Mayhap the stars themselves did dance their twinkling ballet as we traversed the night's shroud, the celestial stage our ethereal steed. On wings of arcane sorcery, we descended upon Brightside, jewel in Bloody River's diadem, draped in the silken cloak of darkness. The town lay hushed, beneath the quilt of night, its heart a mere whisper in the tapestry of existence. We, weary travellers of roads unknown, sought refuge in an inn's embrace, trading our gold for respite, sustenance, and shadows. Within, warmth welcomed us, and the hearth's flickering song embraced our chilled bones. As the night aged, our bellies filled with humble fare, and the lullaby of crackling flames cradled our souls. Yet, in this city, an ember of ambition sparked within my breast, a beacon to guide my craftsman's heart. I beheld the wealth of artisans and crafts-folk, and a notion sprouted like a tenacious weed. To sew the seeds of commerce, to nurture revenue streams in each major city we tread, became my vision. With nimble fingers, I sketched designs of a lighter, a marvel that birthed fire with but the touch of a button. This alchemical creation, if refined and offered in exquisite forms, could shine as a luxury in every corner of Creation. Thus, I commenced the symphony of creation, crafting a version both facile for mass production and open to the artistry of fine-smiths' hands.
With my prototype in hand, I ventured to the town's temple, and in the gilded halls, I sought the preeminent fine-smith family, my treasure displayed to capture their gaze. The prototype dazzled with its ingenuity, but it was the craftsmanship that truly set it ablaze in their eyes. Together, we retreated to their townhouse, where negotiations wove the delicate threads of partnership. A covenant of six moons was struck, wherein they would craft these marvels for both personal sale and my procurement at a generous rate, enriching my cache for future commerce in Chanta. Fortune's fickle smile, like the fleeting caress of a lover, bestowed upon me more than the promise of riches. Magical materials, most notably jade, and exotic treasures found their way into my possession, enriching my arsenal for the crafting of wondrous artifacts.
While my hands danced amidst negotiations, Nightshade, the shadow's mistress, unfurled her wings of curiosity, unfettered in her exploration of this nocturnal metropolis. With her mystic compass as guide, she unveiled a sacred truth — the town's venerable temple was naught but a veiled Manse, hiding arcane secrets within its hallowed chambers.
