Bertrum Blumenthal

Bertrum Blumenthal is a young genius gadgeteer from the city of Nexus. Despite his small stature, he has always been fascinated by gadgets and gizmos, and spends most of his time tinkering in his workshop. His family is well-off, and they provide him with the resources he needs to pursue his interests. Bertrum quickly develops a reputation as a gifted inventor, and is invited to join the ranks of a prestigious group of inventors and artisans who serve the rulers of Nexus.   At the start of his career, Bertrum is determined to make a name for himself as a brilliant gadgeteer. He continues to work tirelessly in his workshop, always seeking out new challenges and opportunities to showcase his skills. He struggles with his dwarfism and the teasing of his peers, but refuses to let this hold him back. He is also intolerant of disrespect or mistreatment of others based on their appearance or abilities, and may confront those who engage in such behaviour.   At university, Bertrum meets Amira, a fellow inventor and gadgeteer. The two of them become best friends, and Amira helps Bertrum to come out of his shell and make new friends. However, Bertrum eventually develops romantic feelings for Amira, which are not reciprocated. Heartbroken, he decides to leave the university and join a caravan that is traveling to distant lands.   As a member of the caravan, Bertrum continues to work on his inventions, including a steam-powered clock that can also predict the weather. He encounters various challenges and obstacles along the way, but remains determined to persevere and see his invention come to fruition. He also makes new friends and finds new inspiration for his work. Despite the pain and heartache he experienced, Bertrum looks back on his time at university and his decision to join the caravan as a valuable learning experience. He remains determined to continue following his dreams and pursuing his passion for invention.
