Forbidding Eye of Hesiesh

Hilltop fortress complex that overlooks both anchorages in Dragon's Jaws.

The central tower is a Manse that dates back to the height of the Shogunate with Essence weapons that can destroy ships miles out to sea. The walls (inner and outer) show mosaics of heroes of the period along with scenes from more recent history, which the devout followers of the Immaculate Philosophy find at least slightly heretical.

Features

Essence Vent
A moat of lava surrounds the walls of the keep. Much cooler than regular lava it still remains liquid, burns and keeps the Manse slightly warmer than it would be otherwise.
Magical Convieniences
The underground armoury contains inbuilt Weapon maintaining boxes for the garrisons equipment, and most of the ground floor is an open training chamber equipped with dummies that (as long as they are kept filled with straw and dressed in appropriate uniforms) will spar with the garrison for training, how and in what groups they fight can be changed by the hearthstone wielder. All the windows of the Manse are thick sheets of quartz that can be seen through from the inside but are opaque from the outside, and the structure is lit by braziers that never need to be fueled or maintained. The walls display slightly heretical mosiacs that slowly change (and thus defeat any attempt to censor them), apparently to reflect the military fortunes of the legions (including the Seventh Legion).
Glorious Halo of Hessiesh
The briefing room is centretred around a large open area that can display images under the control of the hearthstone wielder, currently it shows the positions, strengths and commanders of all the garrisons in An-Teng.
Fortress
The Manse itself is stoutly constructed with walls of thick stone. The outer walls subtly shift to make climbing them almsot impossible without Charms, the lava jets up to attack anyone crossing the moat anywhere but the bridge (up to twice the height of the Manse), and the bridge itself is made of basalt and can be freely melted back to lava and reformed by the defenders (these are the hazards of the Fortress).
Integrated Essence Artillery
While these weapons must be crewed and fired manually they are powered by the Manse and part of its structure, so need relatively little maintenance considering how powerful they are.
  • Stormhammer, looking like an enormous multi vaned lightning rod
  • 2 Light Implosions Bows, one facing North and one South

Hearthstone: Gemstone of Last Resort, Fire 2

A smooth dull-brown stone speckled with black. The bearer cannot have physical consequences invoked against them until they are taken out.
