One would never know the Walker's were siblings if Tiana didn't enjoy constantly reminding her older brother that he is the bane of her existence. Where Andre is respectful and always looking to help others, Tiana is a textbook narcissist. The world revolves around her. At least her world does. This isn't without a reason. She tried for too long to live for others, and all it got her were annoying comparisons. No matter what she did, she could never tear herself from out under that annoying comparison of her oh so perfect older sibling. Tiana Walker grew up in that damn Golden shadow of her older brother for her entire life. ‘Oh, you’re Andre’s sister.’ That damn phrase. That damn life. For a while she tried. She got into track and field, and actually enjoyed it. It was an escape from the slummy house and pretend perfect home she had to return to. But with all her medals, breaking all her records, it was always ‘just like Andre.’
When she got the offer to run for UCLA, thousands of miles away from New Orleans, away from her family, Tiana decided that she would stop aiming to be better and would focus on just being herself, living for herself. It was during that day, when she got the acceptance letter and heard the phrase 'another child on a scholarship, I knew your brother was a good influence,' that Tiana walked outside and felt the annoyance build up along with the consolidation of light in her hand. It was that day Tiana discovered she was an Evo, and that she would not ever feel this way again.
College was an escape, a time to be herself and explore the type of persons she wanted to be. Tiana found that a lack of fucks to give about other people opened up a variety of options for her. Date a few older guys and get some nice things. It was a huge turn in life for a girl who grew up in a modified studio in the slums of NOLA. She traded in hand-me-downs and thrift for designers and luxury. Then mother died. The day she broke the state record and had a party held in her honor. The day she got her first sponsorship and the largest check she’d ever seen. She got told she was supposed to go home, back to that perfectly bullshit home again. Needless to say, it wasn’t pleasant. Andre's constant muttering he'd take care of her was cut off with a sharp "I don't fucking need you, golden boy. Take care of yourself."
And that was that. She went back to UCLA for another year when her sponsors said they got her an offer at Saint Maria's with a better starting position and media coverage. A full ride and more money promised was enough to get her to cut her fake friendships and fly across country. Life was good for Tiana. Up until two weeks after getting to New Victoria she was watching the news and saw that a certain mother fucking someone was the AERI called Victory. Her response? "You have got to be fucking shitting me."
