Momma needs some new heels

Summer 2021, Week 3

Thursday morning

St. Maria University, City Centre

Storyteller

The St. Maria Track and Field Team were deep into Summer Practice after their spring season. And on the field was their newest member from UCLA, Tiana Walker. Up next was the 400-meter sprint, her primary event. Out of all the team members, she seemed the most relaxed, unnaturally so. Her lean muscles flexed as she took her starting position, eyes unfocused and thoughts wandering.

Tiana Walker

Why in God's gloriously holy as fuck name, is that son of a bitch here? Her teeth gritted together as she remembered the most recent press conference that she barely caught getting up this morning. The reporters were asking questions to Victory, the AERI her 'friends' had told her about. He's so handsome, tall and muscular. I bet he's a fun toss around. I wonder if he's dating anyone. Tiana hadn't had time to put a face to the name until this morning. And when she did, the toast she had just buttered flopped on the floor. Her roommate shot awake as she screams 'MOTHER FUCKER' at the top of her lungs.

The starter pistol went off, and all the runners except one took off. It only took Tiana 0.2 seconds to realize what had happened, but such a late start usually ruins a person's time. And given this race was to determine varsity, the coaches though about what a waste of money and time they had spent acquiring this 'talent'

Tiana Walker

Oh...shit. Tiana pushed off and her feet started pounding on the track as she picked up speed. Even behind, she was fast--for normal people. She passed the last two quickly, then three more. There were only two girls ahead of her, but it was the time she had to beat too from the other heats. I am not losing my sponsorship money because I was too focused on hating Mr. Sunshine. Momma needs some new heels. Pouring on a touch of power, an action she normally tried to avoid, she pulled ahead of the girl in front of her and started to race the time.

Storyteller

Tiana Walker, starting 0.2 seconds behind, finished with a time of 50.24. Less than a second off of the Olympic record. Her coaches were shocked, teammates cheered, and Tiana--well she was wondering when her next check would come in since she desperately needed some therapy.
