Personal history
Sofia's childhood and teenage years were spent navigating the turbulent mood-swings of a pair of alcoholics. Though her father didn’t lay hands on her or her mother, his weapons of choice were biting insults and snide remarks that cut deeper than any knife. Her mother’s drunken specialty was uncontrollable weeping and bemoaning her lot in life, wishing she had done things differently. Sofia couldn't decide which was worse, the insults or the self-pitying tears, and wanted nothing more than to get away. So when life presented her an opportunity, she was quick to jump on it without any hesitation.
Shortly after high school, her boyfriend at the time received a job offer that was going to take him across the country and wanting to escape her chaotic family, Sofia thought it would be a good idea to go with him. But not all high school romances last forever and they broke up within a year of arriving at New Victoria. Sofia decided to stick it out in New Victoria by herself, because the alternative was her going back home to her parents.
Now years have passed and Sofia has slowly come to the realization that she’s stuck in a rut and she doesn’t know how to get herself out of it.
