Go ManBat Go! Get Weird Metal Man!

Summer 2021, Week 3

Saturday witching hour

Rostand, Old Towne

Vale

A bed, food, it was all a bit too good to be true… The lady was very nice, but Vale wasn’t the kind of person to take people's kindness for granted. At least she thinks that's what that phrase meant. She had left before the sun rose. Slipping out the door and out of the hall, and to the cold dark streets. She of course kept the clean clothes Thalia had given her… Her rags needed to be tossed away. Much like her old life, they were behind her. She had a plan now. She needed money. She wanted to repay Thalia for her kindness. It was a lot. A warm bed and some food, but it meant the world to the small robot. Walking the back alleys towards what she hoped was the center of the city, she began to think of the best way to make some cash… She wasn’t the best pickpocket, that was for sure. Her arms were a bit too hard, and while she knew people always were willing to pay her for more unsavory things, she doubted she could find a john in a city of exotic girls like her. Surely there was something she could do. Unknown to her, she had wandered towards Oldtown. She walked with her head down, her more robotic parts hidden by the jacket, as she held her arms in the center pocket. Though in the dark alleyways, her eyes glowed like a flashlight, and the small triangle on her forehead pulsed with the slow beat of her heart a gentle blue. There was a slow metal click that made her stop. For once, the metal noise wasn’t her. The clicking grew closer, sounding more like scraping or solid steel against pavement. The noise was getting closer and closer. Then it was atop her. A heavy thud sounded as something massive slammed into the ground inches behind her. Vale slowly turned her eyes, glowing a bright yellow, as she looked up to the figure that had dropped from the building behind her. A loud scream echoed out to all nearby.

Father Cal (Armored)

The good father had spent yet another night alone. Nothing but his bible and the stars as he waited for his prey. This was getting repetitive. Every night he wandered the streets, waiting on rooftops, hiding in alleyways, waiting for his prey that still eluded him. He had no information, no leads. Only a crappy contact that he was pretty sure took his money and ran without ever upholding his end of the deal…”This is what happens when you deal with the devil’s people.” The good father reminded himself. Flipping to the next page in his well-worn bible, he sat and for the most part ignored the world around him. He was watching, but honestly he was just using this free time to catch up on his studying. That was till he noticed something quite odd. A creature wandering the alley beneath him that was glowing. Yes, glowing light. No, two… No, three coming from its hooded face. A large grin appeared on the father's face as he reached for his helm, sliding it over his head, it clicked into place on his armor. This may not be his prey, but an enemy of God was an enemy of his. This at least would keep the old man spry. Gripping hold of Baraqiel, Callixtus used his gauntleted hand to grip the edge of the building and pull himself over the edge. Sliding down the fire escape, his knees would regret this later. Yet none could regret the sight of the suit of armor hitting the ground behind the glowing girl. Baraqiel rose high in the air. “AD MORTEM.”

Cuervo

Cuervo couldn't sleep after the concert, so he decided to go on patrol. It was pretty boring at the moment, but that was good he supposed. "Ummm, you're packed, and you're stacked 'specially in the back Brother, wanna thank your mother for a butt like that,” he sang to himself coming up on an alley. Was that… A guy in a medieval set of armor attacking somebody? He ran up and called out the man. “Hey asshole, I think comic cons next month," as he said this, he stopped forward as the spikes in his gauntlets deployed. He quickly closed the distance between himself and the armored crazy man and threw a right hook at the man's helm. The blow was meant to daze the man more than hurt him, hopefully giving the other person an opportunity to run.

The blow slid off the man's armor. His downward swing changed, dropping it to the left, the blade sparked against the wall as he dragged it across the stone. Turning to spin on his foot towards the new assailant.

Vale

For the most part, Vale was curled up in a corner, she saw her death coming. She was going to be sent to the next life, only to hear some idiot singing Shoop? Well, the gods work in strange ways. Rolling back, she pushed away from the strange armored man trying to hide in the trash layered against the back of the alley way. Curling up as close as she could to the wall. Of course, she wasn't hidden at all, her glowing eyes and forehead giving her away in the dark.

Cuervo

"RUN!" Cuervo roared to the glowing person on ground. He took a small step back to make room so he could aim a spinning hook kick at what would be the armored man's temple, with all his weight behind it. He was hoping without enhancing his strength it would make the man stumble back or maybe knock him over. "I hate to tell ya this, but I think swords are last year. This year is battle-axes and being a Viking."

Father Cal (Armored)

Armor slowed many things, but his arms were not one of them. Especially because his sword arm was mostly unarmed, combined with a short blade, and many would be surprised how quick he could move his blade. Including the poor man who just made the mistake of getting close, and performing one of the most useless moves in all of fighting. Something instructors constantly tell you not to do outside of showing off. Snapping his wrist up, he countered the boy's kick with the pommel of his blade. Staring the boy in the eye, well, helm to mask, Cal gave a low growl but said nothing. The blade suddenly ignited in a bright white light. The rain slowly falling around them, seeming to stop for only a second as the electricity spark from his ungloved hand across the blade like a sheath of lightning. The current ran around the blade entirely, even the hilt.

Vale

She heard the strange man and his bad jokes but didn't seem to move. She was terrified. She had no idea what was going on. How the hell did she wander into some shitty Bollywood movie where Man-bat fought a suit of armor? This had to be a dream, so she did the only logical thing. Lay in the corner and mumble over and over. “Wake up, Vale. Please wake up, Vale. Come on, Vale, wake up.”

Cuervo

Upon seeing the man's sword ignite in lighting, a smile crossed his lips. He focused on the man and the electricity coating the sword and focused on making it weaker. "FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING GOD, RUN YOU'RE WIDE FUCKING AWAKE!" He screamed at the glowing person.

As Damian’s powers activated, an invisible 15-foot radius spread across the alley, dropping Father Cal's electric ability by one level as long he remained here, or if he left it would last 10 minutes.

Father Cal (Armored)

Some days God gave Cal strength. Some days he did not. Cal felt his power dampen. Knowing that God's grace was with him, even if his strength was not. Clearly, he didn't need it if God was choosing not to bless him. Though power or no power, he still held the right of God's wrath. Striking forward, he punched hard with his right hand, a heavy gauntleted hand. Before striking sideways the length of the alley with his blade. A long, quick sweep.

Vale

“No…No, this h…FUCK” Vale said, her robotic voice cracking in fear. Rising to her feet, she stared at the scene before her. Yup, just as weird as when she last looked. There wasn't a way to go, but towards the fight. The alley behind her is merely a wall. Wishing she had a better sense of direction, she looked towards the fire escape the armored man had come down. Doing her best to slowly sneak towards it.

Cuervo

Cuervo managed to move out of the way of the heavy right hand, despite the fact he just realized his right leg was numb from the armored mans electrified counter earlier. The second he realized this was a sword that had hit him in the side. Thankfully his armor had stopped it from cleaving him in half. It did however leave a sizeable gash and dent that caused Cuervo to wince as he felt it connect. "I guess I fell for you hook, line, and sinker."   As he spoke, he raised his grapple gun and aimed at the man in front of him, and fired at his chest. A pressurized metal hook shot out at 50 fps It wasn't enough to pierce that metal, but hopefully their close distance was enough for the heavy hook at the end was enough to dent the chest plate and wind the man.

Father Cal (Armored)

The grapple gun did just about what the odd man wanted, hitting the father's center mass, a loud oomph sounded out as he stumbled then fell back. The sheer weight of his armor kept him from going flying, but also dragged him down. Like a falling tower he fell, though he didn't let go of his blade. His free hand quickly opened and grabbed tight to rope, aiming to pull the man down with him. Father Cal was very much wondering if he was getting too old for this shit. It was easier when witches merely had small firearms. Not weird rope launching thingies.

Vale

Little Vale had made it to the fire escape and surprisingly made it quite far up it in the short time she had, being on about the third story of the building. Her robotic limbs allow her to monkey her way up the side of the building, all but throwing herself up the rungs of the ladder. "GO MANBAT GO...GET WEIRD METAL MAN!"

Cuervo

"The names Cuerv-ooph!" The moment he had stopped to reply to the woman, he had face planted due to the man pulling on his grapple hook. "If you broke it. I'm billing you," he said as he pressed the button to retract the coil back into the launcher. "I can't keep this up too much longer. The guy’s armor is too thick for me to do much." He looked back up at the roof, hoping the woman was leaving as he started to get up, but his right leg was still numb and the best he could do was get up to one knee for now.

Father Cal (Armored)

The good father wasn't letting his prey get away. Nor would he let this witch lover dare stand in his way. He wouldn't let the boy get up. Rather, he reached forward and grabbed towards this Cuervo, aiming to dig his fingers into the open wound and toss the man towards the wall. Of course, to do this, he had to let go of his sword.

Vale

Vale at this point was most of the way up the building. To say she was fast was a bit of an understatement. Looking down, she noticed the fight wasn't really going her rescuers way. Her eyes zoomed in to see just what was going on. Spotting Shoop’s open wound, she grimaced and looked around, wanting to help. Reaching over, she grabbed a flowerpot sitting outside someone's flat. Grabbing the flowerpot, she tossed it down towards the men fighting.

Cuervo

The Detroit in him would have loved to say he didn't scream, but a man just shoved his fingers in a gash on his side and threw him. So as the armored figure grabbed his open wound and threw him into the wall, he screamed. His head was spinning and he could feel blood dripping down his side, but he ignored it. Somebody needed his help. He spit out a glob of blood and fixed his gaze on the man across from him.   "I said, Leave them alone asshole, aight? You wanna bang with somebody, you fuckin get your slow heavy ass back here and we'll go all fuckin night!" With that, he ran across the wall he was thrown against and bounced off it, rocketing forward at his opponent to deliver a Superman punch at the head of the guy who obviously didn't know it was 2021. His suit buzzed lightly as it strengthened the blow. If it connected, it was meant to once again rock the suit of armor, so he could make sure the girl got away. Then he could make sure he got away as well.

Father Cal (Armored)

The blow hit easily. Cal was already unstable from both his blows towards the odd man, and just rose up to his feet. Though the blow itself didn't quite knock him over. That came after. We, the heavens, told Cal to go fuck himself. The pot Val had thrown landed right atop his armored head, the cheap ceramic shattering to a million pieces as the good father fell. Utterly confused. What the hell had just happened. Falling back flat on his ass, he didn't move for a few moments, clearly dazed.

Cuervo

"You best tell everybody like you, every two-bit fucking asshole, these streets belong to Cuervo now. That's me by the way!" He then aimed his grapple hook up at the roof the woman was on yelling as he did so, "EAASST SIIIDEEEE!" After being grappled up onto the roof, he looked at the woman he helped, placing a hand on his wounded side. "You okay? " He asked as he placed his grapple hook back at his side. He knew that it would take the armored ass a few minutes to get up and even longer to scale a ladder.. he hoped.

Vale

Sitting on the side of the building, she was just staring down in disbelief. The armored man was moving, but clearly, he wasn't getting up to them anytime soon. Though looking over to the strange man yelling about the east-side. She honestly didn't know if she was any safer. Tentatively, she lifted her hands as if she was going to fight. The man would notice lights trailing across her entire body, and with a better look he would most likely see. She wasn't even remotely human. “Who are you…what are you…what was that…what's going on in this crazy fucking town?”

Cuervo

He held up his hands to show he meant no harm. "Well. What happened was, I was going on patrol singing Shoop and saw you about to die. And saved you." He gave an easy smile trying to calm her down. "I'm not here to hurt you. I just wanted to help. That was it. Do you have somewhere you can go? Before that guy figures out he can climb a ladder? And stabs me." He was doing his best not to show the pain from the wound in his side getting this scared woman to safety was his first priority everything else came later.

Vale

The man could hide his pain, but her eyes missed nothing. The robotic optics locked into his bleeding and she bit her lower lip. Her eyes turned a soft, concerned purple. Stepping back, she shook her head trying to focus. They had to get out of here, then they could think about. “Uh...Yeah the Other Dimension...strip club." She rubbed the back of her neck slowly, only to jump at the sound of metal against metal or rather, something heavy bending metal, like an armored man grabbing onto a fire escape and beginning to pull themselves up.

Cuervo

Damian grabbed a hold of the woman's waist. "Sorry for not asking for permission. Yell at me after we're safe," he said before aiming his grapple hook at a building across the street. "Hold on." And with that, he jumped off the roof with her in tow as they zipped across towards the roof top. His cape slightly fluttering behind them.

Vale

“What do you MEEEEAAAAN!!” Her scream could be heard for miles. Maybe more. The little robot that could was scared of heights, and this man just yeeted her off a roof. Swinging between buildings, her several hundred pound frame latched onto the caped man. Squeezing him with inhuman strength with her eyes closed.

Cuervo

"Oh God, don't squeeze that tight," he managed to say as his feet hit the roof. "Fuck. You're strong." He took and let go of her as he checked his wound, the bleeding was slowing and it wasn't as deep as he thought, thanks to his armor. "Where do I take you? Can I order you an Uber? Do I leave you on the roof? I'm very new to this."

Vale

“YOU'RE NEW TO THIS…YES BECAUSE I GET ATTACKED BY METAKNIGHT EVERY NIGHT” Vale was done at this point. She had been attacked, thrown, and then swung across a rooftop, like some crappy comic book. Now her “Hero” was saying he was new and didn't know what to do. “You aren't leaving me anywhere, Mister Shoop, you are going to be a damn hero and take me home. Urrrr… The strip club…”

Cuervo

"I mean. Fine." He sighed and after a few moments, found the fire escape and started making his way towards it. "So. Why'd he attack you? Did he say anything?" He pressed a button on his gauntlet and the lenses in his cowl lit up. To him it was displaying a phone screen and he started typing on his gauntlet, making a file for the future, along with checking where he left his motorcycle. "We'll have to walk two blocks to my vehicle by the way."

Vale

Vale gave a small nod, her arms crossed over her chest, and looked slightly to the side. The bit of New Yorker burst out of her system. Maybe. Heading behind him, she made her way down the fire escape with ease. Thankful suddenly for her harder form. “Hey… Thanks. Seriously. I probably would be dead right now if you hadn't shown up.”

Cuervo

"Ah, don't worry about it," he called over his shoulder as he finished going down the fire escape. "So, what's your name?" Cuervo kept walking, expecting her to keep up and he was moving at a brisk pace. The quicker they were on his bike, the faster he could go home and stitch up his wound. Plus, he'd be able to make a file on that crazy knight asshole.

Vale

“Vale…the name's Vale… Though most just call me a freak." She gave a small shrug, walking just a few steps behind him. She had zero trouble keeping pace. It was actually quite easy. She could have outrun him in a heartbeat… Not that she was thinking of it. She could have probably outrun the madman with a sword if she tried. Good job, Vale. Now you owe two people your life.

Father Cal (Armored)

The good father was sitting on the roof watching them walk off. Having taken off his slightly dented helm, he stared as his prey walked away along with his pride. Or rather, they thought they would be walking away with his pride. The good father walked over to the edge of the building with a small wheeze. His chest was aching from whatever that idiot hit him with. Grabbing a small bag he had stashed there, he slid open the duffle revealing a thin black rifle. God worked in many ways. One of those is 7.62×51 mm Nato. Setting his Heckler & Koch HK417 on the railing of the building, he took a deep breath and set his eye down the sight. He didn't have long before they were out of vision. “In God's name, I walk this earth. Seeking those who dare soil his great earth. With his grace, I correct their ways.” Setting the crosshairs, he aimed for the boy, center mass, several Hundred yards. Not an easy shot. “With his light, I guide his children, and through his fist, I show all the way. May he guide my voice to better his flock. Amen” As he spoke his last word, he breathed out to empty his lungs and pulled the trigger.

Cuervo

He heard the shot and it hit right in front of his feet. He didn't pause, didn't say anything, just grabbed the woman next to him and started sprinting his bike in sight. His cowl lit once more, and the bike started automatically. He got on, pulling the girl onto the back. "Hold on," he yelled over the roar of the bike and then he tore off going as fast as the bike would go and he made sure this bike topped out at about 210 mph. "Directions to the nearest strip club!" He screamed and a voice in his cowl started to tell him where to go, hoping that it was out of the range of that crazy motherfucker.

Father Cal (Armored)

The good father didn't pause, didn't think. He let his training guide him. The slide slipped back, and he adjusted. He had overcompensated for the wind. He wouldn't make the mistake twice. Shifting, he followed them down the road before firing again. God's justice would be served. His shots came one after another, the ten round magazine emptied quickly. The shots are barely audible. His silencer was only muffling the noise for him. But at the range his targets were, they would hear little till the round impacted the ground near them. 15 Shots, a mag and a half later and there wasn't any more noise.

Vale

Vale hadn't been on a bike in forever, and she had never been chased by a madman with a sniper. She was hugging tightly to her savior’s back, doing her best to yell out directions to the club where Thalia had taken her in. It was in the nicer part of downtown, and that was about all she remembered. She was quite new to the city, after all. She kept talking at the best she could, only to go silent. A loud CRACK was heard as she went quiet. A warmth suddenly spreading across Cuervo’s' back.

Cuervo

The problem with the bike Cuervo had chosen, was it wasn't great at weaving in and out. He was about to turn when he felt something spreading across his back. "Vale! Talk to me!" He immediately changed direction towards the nearest hospital. He'd be damned if this woman died on him. "TELL ME ABOUT YOUR LIFE JUST FUCKING TALK TO ME!" he shouted as he started weaving in and out of traffic along with running a few red lights along the way.

Father Cal (Armored)

Seeing his targets begin to weave in and out of cars, he gave a low sigh. No, as much as he wanted to, he would not continue to fire into civilians. He won't bring any of god's children into the crossfire against the devil. Sitting up, he rubbed his back slowly. “Father above, I am too old for this. You really need to send me a partner.” There was a crack of lightning in the distance, and Cal sighed. Beginning the process of dismantling his rifle and storing it in his bag. His prey had escaped him, but there would always be tomorrow… God's light would always give rise to a new day.

Vale

Vale was frozen. Her hands vice grips on her savior’s stomach, squeezing with all her robotic might. She had been shot. No doubt about it. She had felt the bullet impact her silicone skin and push its way through her back into what should have been her internal organs. Black blood spewing from the wound in her back and pouring out of the exit hole on her stomach. She was going into shock. “Ah…ah… I’m… I’m Vale… I… I … I WAS SHOT!” She had tried to do as Cuervo asked of her, but something about being shot made staying calm hard.

Cuervo

"Where are you from?!" He asked, making his way to The Other Dimension. He couldn't dig out his phone to find the directions to it while he was riding. So, strip club it was. He'd been shot at once or twice and it'd have been one thing if the bullet hit him, but not the person he was trying to save. He was going to drown that armored fuck in his own blood when he found him.

Vale

“I… I'm from New York, NYC.” Vale shuddered in pain as she leaned into the man. She was doing her best not to think about her body, or the pain that her robotic nerves had already beginning to shut off. A good thing about not being fully human is her nerves could be turned on and off based on need. Soon she wouldn't feel pain. In fact, she already felt her bleeding slow, her ‘fatal wound’ healing up as the silicone of her skin began to stretch over it. “I just got to the city a few days ago. I've been staying… with Thalia. She owns The Other Dimension.” This was a lie, but only in the slightest form.

Cuervo

What the fuck was he thinking? A strip club? For somebody who'd been shot? No. The adrenaline wasn't helping him think straight. He made a few quick turns and found himself on the way to the hospital. "I've never been to New York!" He called over to her. "I've always wanted to though." He kept talking to her about all the things he wanted to do in New York until they arrived at Riverview Hospital Center.

Saturday early morning

Riverview Hospital Center

Vale

Vale did her best to chitchat and ignore the warmth leaving her stomach as the man drove her. She was trying quite hard to stay focused on merely holding onto the speeding bike.

Cuervo

As he pulled up towards the emergency entrance, he barely remembered to put the kickstand down before getting off. "I'm gonna pick you up," he said, walking towards her and attempting to carry her bridal style. He couldn't help the "woof" that left him as he realized how heavy she was. Oh yeah. Made of metal. He checked his gauntlet which had a power gauge and nodded, he had enough to pick her up. With a grunt he hoisted her up and made his way towards the entrance yelling. "I NEED HELP. SHE'S BEEN SHOT. PLEASE. HELP" He could feel his legs wanting to give from his fight earlier, but he ignored it as he kept walking. Praying somebody would come by with a stretcher.

Storyteller

A Nurse came running out at the boy's voice. Quickly followed by several more with a stretcher. Of course, the first nurse froze when she saw them. Here in New Victoria, they got some weird cases, but Batman dragging a metal corpse? No, not a corpse, she thought, noticing that the girl with glowing lights in her skin seemed to turn and look at her. That was definitely new. Helping Vale onto a stretcher, several nurses wheeled her inside before the lead nurse took a long look at Cuervo. “You too boy. Inside. I can see the blood leaking out of your side.”

Cuervo

He just nodded and followed the stretcher. The adrenaline was wearing off, he could feel how tired he was and how sore. "Will she be okay?" He asked his voice was hoarse and more gravely than usual. "I'd rather you take care of her first. My wound isn't terrible." And with that, the exhaustion of the night hit, and his knees finally buckled as he leaned on the wall next to him.

Storyteller

“Sweety, I beg to differ, your friend will be fine. Go lay down on… FUCK CODE BLUE" The entire hospital swung into action it seemed. The nurse yelling out quickly dropped and helped Cuervo, grabbing him lightly as she did a pat for wets, wanting just to see how bad his bleeding was. It wasn't long till a team had him in a stretcher and wheeling him off. While Vale's was a gunshot, he had been bleeding for quite a while in a vital area. Vale was laid back peaceful on a bed as they did their best to figure out how to help the part android. Her bleeding had already stopped, her robotic body dealing with the injury much better than an average human.

Vale

“So, I can call anyone I want, right?” The young girl said, kinda sheepishly, laying on her side as the Doctor poked and prodded at her insides. They hadn't said much about her body, rather getting right to work. This was a nice change of pace. Maybe a place where people thought Evos were normal was quite nice. Of course, they didn't understand that she couldn't turn off her morph as they called it, but weren't questioning her much. Caring more about the bullet wound then her evo. A nurse handed her a hospital phone with a small nod.
Phone Call
To: Thalia
Hey...Umm Thalia? I'm in the ER...

Athalia Cooper

In response to Vale's call, Athalia would grunt out a- "Wha-what?!" Obvious tiredness present in her voice as she was stirred from her sleep by the phone. "Okay-okay... text me the address and what room you're in, I'm on my way~" Athalia's frantic movement apparent in the background of the call before she hung up suddenly.

Cuervo

Cuervo just grunted and took off his cowl, so it would be easier to remove his chest plate as well. Thankfully, he had a domino mask on under it just in case he ever had to remove the cowl in public like now. "It's really not that bad. Maybe a two-inch-deep cut." He then began telling them how to take off the chest piece, because he just didn't have the strength to do so. "I don't have to tell you my name or anything, do I?"

Storyteller

The Doctor looked at the young man kinda funny and shook his head. He was smiling and rolling his eyes but seemed in good spirits. “Young man, I very much need your name, and a few other things. And if you think you're getting off this bed before we get a good look at that wound, and some stitches in you… Well, you're wrong. You're not the first “Hero” I've worked on.” The doc was an older gentleman with gray encroaching on his black hair. He gently touched the young man's side as a nurse came up with a large set of scissors. “Now, please put your hands down and let us help you.”

Storyteller

While Vale had at first been taken to the ICU, it didn't take long for the doctors to realize she was mostly ok. She merely needed some fluids and time. A few glue stitches later, and she was laying alone in her bed, listening to the nurses fighting with Cuervo just across the floor.

Cuervo

Cuervo couldn't help but laugh at the knife. "You won't be able to cut this off, it's not possible. I'm gonna remove it myself." And with that, he slowly began undoing the chest piece and taking it off. "And you can call me Cuervo," his voice trailed off as he looked at the wound. "Well. I guess I cut this one pretty close. Eh? Eh?" He said with a grin trying not to focus on the pain he was in. He knew it was just going to be a collection in the patchworks of scars he'd already collected and that were to come.

Storyteller

“Close? Perhaps. My, that's pretty deep. I think you may need a bit more than stitches. Nurse get an IV started. Why don't you keep talking to me, Mister Cuervo? Tell me how you got this cut, and your friend, the gunshot.” It wasn't long before the doctors began their work. An IV full of painkillers started as another was of fluids. The Doc kept talking the entire time, as if trying to keep Cuervo awake. He had been taken to the ICU as well. Where they could quickly begin stitches, though first, they needed to make sure nothing internal was harmed.

Cuervo

"Oh. Yeah. You don't get the uh. Cutting joke. I was cut by a sword saving that lady. And then she got. Shot by that armored douche canoe." He started telling the nurse everything from Shoop to getting to the hospital. He knew he didn't want to pass out. But god the pain meds were making it hard ... a small 5-minute nap wouldn't hurt right? And with that, his eyes got far too heavy, and he passed out.

Athalia Cooper

Having arrived within minutes of receiving Vale's call, Athalia had shown up a bundled mess of poorly managed bedhead and clear bags under her eyes due to lack of sleep. It was apparent she had been up late the night before and only had gotten a few hours of sleep before desperately driving to the hospital Vale told her of. Athalia rarely showed her true face in public, even less so in government buildings, but she was so out of her mind and in a worry that she did not even think twice about running inside- jacket in hand- to the front desk in search of Vale's room. She had not even known the poor girl for more than a few days but had already felt obligated to take care of her- the usual pattern Athalia fell into when it came to these sorts of things... Though it certainly wasn't often one of the few she was helping called her in the early morning- too early- saying they were in the hospital without any further explanation. Regardless, the green-haired woman was clearly in a mess and eager to find Vale's room as she ran up to the front counter.   "Hi, I'm here to see 'Vale?' I don't know what room she might be in now but she called me- is she on your records or here now?" The last part didn't even finish registering in Athalia's mind before she asked it, the words spewing forth through her sleep-addled lips- alcohol still faint on her breath from the night before. Despite the possible DUI on the horizon, it seemed adrenaline was far destroying any trace of intoxication that should be present from the partying and drinking mere hours prior.

Storyteller

Some nights are just worse than others… Some nights you get quiet dead shifts with little going on… Some nights within a span of 4 hours, you get a burn victim, three gunshot wounds, a stabbing… And oddest of all, a living android, and someone who claims to have gotten into a sword fight? Only to top it all off with some drunk lady plant head asking about a patient…this is why she smoked pot on her breaks. “Yes, Miss. Give me one moment and let me check. Miss Vale? Admitted around 30 or so minutes ago, correct? And you are? I just need to know if you are on the list to see her. That’s all.” She dealt with drunkards quite often, and while this one felt different, she truly hoped they were here for the odd android girl.

Athalia Cooper

Athalia had only partially collected herself throughout the receptionist's response, her confirmation of Vale's presence reassuring the green-haired woman that she was at the right place. She took a breath before- "Yeah that sounds about right, my name is Athalia..." She breathed, not entirely sure how the woman would act at her name- she was probably wanted in a few places still, but she doubted a nurse in a hospital a couple of states away would be able to tell off a single name alone. Those thoughts quickly fading, Athalia returned her mind to calming herself down a bit, wanting to at least be a little bit composed when she asked Vale just what the hell she was doing in an ER at like 5 in the morning... Regardless, she remained at the counter awaiting what the receptionist had to say.

Storyteller

“Athalia. Athalia. Ah, yes. You need to head down the hall and hit the buzzer. A nurse will be by shortly after to let you into the ICU. The third room after that, Unit C…and her friend, is a few doors down, if you were wondering.” The young lady manning the desk seemed to smile softly and then looked back down towards her paperwork.

Athalia Cooper

'Her... friend?' Athalia was certainly confused at that last part, but the directions rang true through her mind as she nodded in thanks with a smile and turned to leave the desk. Shrugging off the friend line, she followed the hall until she came to a set of doors and rang the buzzer as prompted- waiting to be let in. Assuming she was within a minute or so, Athalia would continue as the receptionist described and made her way further down through the ICU to Vale's room. If the door was closed, Athalia would knock on it slightly before opening it- rather knocking on the door plainly before entering if it was instead open. Either way, Athalia would slowly attempt to enter, unsure of what was waiting for her within.

Vale

Her door was closed, but mostly to give her some modesty. The nurses had helped her into a nurse hospital gown, and laid her out on her stomach. The wound being on the back, they had left it up to the air. A few fresh stitches covered the wound. She looked up sheepishly and smiled, trying her best to rise up onto her elbows to look towards Thalia. “Hi, Thalia. Thanks for coming. Sorry” She whispered the last word and looked down. Thalia would get a good view of her wound, a large impact wound covering a chunk of her right side, right above her ass. Of course, it had already started to heal, even the stitches slowly being consumed by the silicone as her body was beginning to repair it quite rapidly. IVs were attached into both of her arms, slowly pumping her full of fluids. “They were unsure how to help me, so they are just giving me some fluids and the stitches.”

Athalia Cooper

The sight would concern Athalia to say the least, but she was accustomed to worse- and the odd biology of Vale's body left Athalia to wonder just how injured she really was from whatever wound she had. It apparently was enough to warrant this level of treatment, but what quite was it? She cast the question aside as she closed the door behind her, making her way over to Vale and pulling a chair up beside her bed. "Hey... don't be sorry- I think you do owe me an explanation though at least... Pulling me out of bed in the morning is something very few people get to do you know." She delivered with a smirk, trying to ease Vale's guilt she seemingly had at whatever it was had happened. Athalia had not entirely shrugged off the treatment bit, but it seemed Vale was doing fine enough for now that they were alright to talk... She also took a note of the IV's, deciding that that would be one of the few consistent treatments for the android if she were to get injured again.

Vale

“I'm sorry… I… I … I just wanted to repay you.” Vale couldn't hold back any longer. She had been thinking of this in her mind over and over since the nurse had let her use her cell to call Miss Thalia. She was all she knew, or had in this city, and instead of finding her some money to repay her, she only ended up dragging her out in the middle of the night and possibly costing her money. She knew medical, while guaranteed, wasn't free after all. Tears poured down the poor girl's face, coming out as an odd black substance. The lights on her body all turning a deep melancholy blue. “I left. I wanted to find some money…just something to repay you. For all your kindness, you didn't want me to repay you and…and I had to, but some weird man with a sword jumped down…then some idiot was singing Shoop. Then I was flying…then…there was a motorcycle…then I was shot… I think I don't knowwww…” Her words become soft sobs as she struggles to keep herself together.

Storyteller

A fist knocks on the door before a uniformed police officer peaked in. “Excuse me.” The man says kindly. He has Corporal stripes on his shoulder and appears to be in his early 40’s, with lines of grey through his black hair. He’s a stout man, big but not overweight, and opens the door fully to walk in with another. “I'm Officer Jared Throne. I’m sorry to interrupt, but we need to ask you a few questions about how you ended up here.”   The police were obviously called. And surprise surprise it wasn’t hard for the two to easily pick out the ‘living Android’ who was involved in the chaos that filled the streets of the city in Rostand.   “This should only take a few minutes. And your friend can stay.” He gave a nod of affirmation to cut off the protest that comes so often when they had to question people in the hospital.   A woman walked in behind her partner. She was of average build and height and appeared to be in her mid-thirties. Her shoulder length ginger hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She's a Master Officer, but didn't have an insignia to denote her rank. Her voice was gruff as she spoke. "Officer Bray, here. Why don't we start with you telling us your version of tonight's events, ma'am?"

Vale

Looking up at the officers and away from Thalia, Vale gave a small frown towards the police officers. Seeming to try and scoot towards Thalia for safety. She didn't get along with police officers, not since her Evo grew to where it is now. While Evos may be accepted in this city, it still bothered her quite a lot. “ Umm… Well it started,” She began her tale of being chased by the man with the sword, leaving out, of course, the entire reason she was out wandering was because of looking for someone to sell herself to for money. Going through the entire fight the best she could remember and giggling a bit when she said she threw a flower pot towards the mad man with a blade, only stopping once they arrived at the hospital. “That's about it.”

Storyteller

"Mmhmm." Officer Bray gave her partner a look. "It's pretty late to be going for a walk. Don't see much at this time of night except for perps and street walkers. You tangled up in anything we should be aware of, Ma'am? You wouldn't be leaving out any details, right?"

Athalia Cooper

As the officers entered, Thalia would remain seated, holding Vale's hand as she scooted closer to the green-haired woman. She had easily detected Vale's demeanor toward the officers, and so she made a small movement to let Vale put Thalia between the two parties. As they began talking, Thalia would offer a small smile, however insincere the intention was behind it. Turning to face them, Thalia would remain seated as he remarked she could stay- as if she would scurry off at the mere sight of a police officer. As one could probably guess would be the case, Thalia had dealt with her fair share of officers due to her... occupation, but regardless she opted to stay. To think Thalia would merely sit idly during the questioning would be foolish, as throughout the entire retelling of the story, Thalia would actively defend Vale if she was met with any questions regarding details. This would have taken the form of propositional logic and shrugging off slight inconsistencies if any were to arise. This of course was a little difficult considering Thalia knew extremely little of the entire scene despite having arrived a few minutes earlier than the officers, but nonetheless she would have acted as a 'mediator'- going along with what Vale detailed and sticking up for her if any scrutiny fell on her story.   Once the telling was over, Thalia would cross her legs and think as they continued to question Vale. Growing tired of what they were attempting to propose, she simply looked up at the officer- softy letting go of Vale's hand as she leaned back in the chair~ "Mr. Throne, can you reasonably say after listening to her story that she'd be the type to get herself involved in... well, just about anything illegal? I for one enjoy the quiet and peacefulness that night-walks can bring, and I can only imagine the peace it might bring to her-" motioning to Vale- "considering how antisocial she is. I think you can easily grasp that she was cast out and made fun of by just about everyone she has ever talked to, and if I were in that boat I for one would take any chance at silence I could get." Thalia would deliver this all calmly, making complimentary hand motions as she proposed a defense in Vale's stead. She was well aware that the android might accidentally get herself in deeper shit if left to her own devices, so Thalia decided to remain in the room. Turning to look at Vale directly for a moment- the green haired woman would look back to the pair of officers and ask- "Are you planning to detain or place this girl under arrest by chance?" Slightly annoyed Vale had opted to happily give the police her entire account without fail, she noted that she'd need to train the girl quite a bit later when it came to things like this...

Vale

For the most part, Vale managed to keep her mouth shut as Thalia spoke. Clearly seeming to take the green haired girl as a mother-like figure, shirking behind her the best she could without pulling on her IVs or stitches. She had been out street walking as a matter of a fact, and had almost admitted so when Thalia had spoken up. Quickly understanding to go along with what Thalia said, she waited for her to finish defending her before speaking up quietly. “I… I just wanted to enjoy the morning air. I like watching the sunrise. It's the only time people don't bother me.”

Storyteller

Giving Thalia a cursory glance, Officer Bray answered before her partner could get a word in. "Ma'am, my questions were aimed at the person involved, Miss Vale here. Unless you were at the scene, I'd ask that you keep your interjections to a minimum. Now, Miss Vale, you're not in trouble. We're just gathering as many details as we can. You mentioned people bothering you. Is it because of, uh, your powers or whatever is causing you to look like" she motions with a quick up and down hand wave "this?"   Taking a step forward, not so much cutting his partner off, but--okay, well totally cutting his partner off--Officer Throne spoke up, having taken notes the entire time while Vale was telling her story. He looked up as Bray spoke, hearing the same old heat coming off her as always. She really needs to listen to me and take up yoga. "Ma'am," Speaking to Athalia, hinting that he hadn't gotten her name, "I'm planning to do no such thing. What we responded to was reports of an citizen being attacked and taken to the hospital. It's the attacker we're looking for, trying to get enough details to bring them in, or if necessary, report them to the AERI team to capture."   Moving closer to Vale's bedside, he set a hand on the railing rather than invading the girls personal physical space, but still trying to demonstrate concern. "You're not in trouble. I promise. But reasons why people do things are actually very important. Do you regularly go outside at that time of day? A routine that someone could have observed if they were watching you? Were you meeting someone that another people could have known about. That's what we're trying to get at. Most attacks, almost all, are not random. They are planned in some sort of fashion. That's why my Partner is asking about the tiny details that could seem insignificant at a glance. Okay?"   Pausing on his words so they settled in, he continued. "So, let's think on this together, all right? Do you normally go out at that time of day? And like my partner asked, have you had adverse treatment because of something? Did any of those people bothering you stick out, stay in your mind. Anything like that?"

Vale

There it was. Looking like, ‘this’. Even in a city where Evos were accepted, she was still a freak. She looked to the side, away from both the police and Thalia, as she spoke.” The… This is-” She was cut off by the other officer getting far too close to her liking. People typically paid to be that close. She wouldn't look over towards the officer, but instead, right at Thalia. Not really having an answer, she hadn't been in the city long, and she typically only moved around at night. Unless she was looking for a john, she liked to not be seen.   “I... I don't normally move around during the day. People stare too much at the metal glowing girl. I prefer the nighttime, though. I haven't been out much at all since, well, I found a home.” She had almost said Thalia took her in, but looking towards her, she realized Thalia hadn't said her name out-loud and thought perhaps, that's how she should play it as well. Looking over towards the officer, she gave a weak smile. He was clearly trying to help her, but failing horribly in her mind.   “Sir, everyone stares when I walk down the street. The whispers when I take the train are quite loud, and I rarely make it far without someone making a joke about being made of metal. SO yes, I get plenty of adverse treatment, but no, none that are different from the rest.” Of course, she was discussing her time in New York, and not New Victoria.

Storyteller

"So, nothing out of the ordinary for you then. Got it. All ya had to say." Officer Bray looked back at her own notes and then stared back at Vale again. "This man with a sword. He anyone you recall seeing before? Could you identify him in a line up? And what about your hero next door, you ever seen him before tonight either?"

Vale

“No, I haven't seen him ever. Though he was wearing a metal helmet, like a full suit of medieval armor, so I didn't really get a view of him. Same with said hero. They brought him into the room before I got a look at his face, but I didn't recognize my "hero’s" voice. At the least” She answered honestly, looking towards the officers now.

Athalia Cooper

Having been merely listening in on the conversation after their "warning," Athalia merely nudged Vale slightly and gave her a slight nod if she acknowledged it. "I'll be waiting outside." She said softly to the android, rising from her seat to go and get some air. Assuming the police officers did indeed not want to talk to her, she'd simply leave the room and lean against the wall. She'd immediately bury her head in her hands and take a breath, opting to just wait and watch the people pass by as they continued questioning Vale.

Storyteller

"Well, alright then. We'll get your contact info from your paperwork. Fill out a report. Send it to you. Let you know if we have any questions or if we find this medieval man walkin around town. Anything else you got, Thorne?"   "No. Just be sure to call us if anything comes up. I mean anything, however small a detail you think it might be, okay? Just ask for me." Throne takes out a card to the general police hotline and department and sets it by her bed. "And please make a quick recovery. Meanwhile, we'll find this guy."

Vale

Vale gave a small nod and watched the officers get ready to leave. She didn't plan on grabbing the card. She was just another vagrant in their eyes. Her case would soon be forgotten, she figured. "I'll do my best, officers.."

Storyteller

"And be more careful next time you're out this late. It's been rough in the city lately. Let's go see this Cuervo character. Oh Lord." Officer Bray rolled her eyes. "It's gonna be one of those days."

Athalia Cooper

Having taken note of the officers leaving, Athalia sighed into her hand and walked back into Vale's room, closing the door behind her once more. Resuming her seat from before, Athalia moved close to the bed and leaned on it, still unimaginably tired from what Vale did to get her here.   "So... was everything you told them true?" Her eyes would be visibly drained, the fact that the sun was scheduled to come up soon making her internally mithered at her loss of sleep. Assuming Vale said yes- "I was going to fret over getting you to explain why you brought me here but never mind- I'll need to train you up in the art of talking to police." That last portion was said with a bit more oomph, but Athalia would immediately drop her chin on the rail again and continue tiredly~ "Don't ever give them the full story again please, and don't-" At this she sat up, her face showing slight bit of anger through her glasses- "don't you ever go walking around at night alone again. They may be dumb, but what those cops said about trouble at night was true. Especially considering there's someone out there who wants to kill you specifically!" Knowing she should be careful with how she put it, Athalia delivered the advice with energy to make it stick, but not so much so that she would scare Vale- she wanted to scold, not scream.

Vale

“I’m…I’m sorry. Honestly, Miss Athalia. I didn't mean to scare you. I… I just wanted to go out and find a way to repay your kindness.” Like a scolded child, she was looking down towards the bed, her hands held together, with her thumbs twiddling between themselves. She didn't really know what to say. She was just sorry this was all her fault. “I knew I shouldn't have called you, but I didn't know who else to call, and the Doctor made it seem like the wound was really bad, even if I could barely feel it. I won't do it again, I swear.”

Athalia Cooper

Athalia's face would clearly show concern, but the exhaustion might have helped conceal it a little bit from Vale. "No no, you calling me is fine, this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened- hell at least this time I was able to get an hour of sleep at least." She said with a chuckle, trying to lighten Vale's mood. "I know that I might be all you've got right now, so do not hesitate to call me again if you need me- and don't worry yourself about paying me back." She said that last portion a bit more like a command, but she meant it wholeheartedly. Still leaning on the rail slightly, Athalia would sit back in the chair and rub her eyes a little bit~ "Look, Vale, I've pretty much brought you in just like I have with more than a dozen girls who've been in the same situation you are right now. So don't worry about you being a strain or burden, since helping people like you is what I designed my whole business around." Athalia would cap that bit of exposition with her standing up, moving to lean on the bed directly as she grabbed Vale's hand.   "Come on, I don't exactly know how your body works but I'm assuming you're pretty much healed. Let's get out of here and we can go grab like McDonald's or something- I think they're 24/7 now." She would say with a smile, just wanting to get Vale out of the hospital- if whoever attacked her wanted to finish the job the hospital would be the first place he would check would be where'd she go for medical treatment after-all.

Vale

Vale would give a small nod. She honestly barely felt anything, she knew there was a hole currently clear through most of her stomach, but her body had shut off the nerve endings near the wound while she healed. Sitting up, she gave a weak smile, having pretended to be far worse off than she was. Grabbing the IVs, she carefully pulled them out before swinging her leg over the side of the bed. She was a bit wobbly, the painkillers not working like the doctors wanted, but working close enough to how they should. "That sounds really nice. Can I get nuggets?” She almost whispered, walking over to lean on Thalia's side, wanting to reach for her hand, but not quite doing so.

Athalia Cooper

Giving a slight smirk to Vale as she began sitting up, she would help the android off the bed and onto her feet- "Atta girl." She'd say as she put one of Vale's arms over her shoulder, helping her out of the bed. Once she was standing, Athalia would keep Vale's arm over her shoulder- acting as a crutch while they walked. At the question of nuggets, Athalia would simply respond- "Yeah, you can have as many nuggets as you want." With a smile, she'd begin walking Vale out of the hospital, avoiding any looks they may have gotten as they made their way to the exit. If any nurses or individuals tried to stop them, Athalia would merely shrug them aside, attempting to push them away with loose explanations of- "She's fine, she heals fast~" or something of that sort. If any would not stop however, she'd have to act somewhat differently, but she had hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Vale

Doing her best to just smile and wave, as the penguins say, she hid in Thalia's arm, letting her hospital gown cover up her wounds as they snuck out of the hospital with everyone watching. While a few nurses thought of stopping her, most were so used to Evos they didn't bother. A fast-healing Evo just made sense. She would let Thalia lead her outside to the curb without anyone stopping them.

Athalia Cooper

Now having made it outside without causing a scene, Athalia would help Vale to the woman's car, aiming to go get food and take the android girl home to heal further in safety.

Cuervo

Damian had woken up in a room with several staples in his left side where the cut had been and the startling revelation that managed to drown out any pain. His domino mask was not on his face. "HEY. I NEED THE MASK! SECRET IDENTITY SHIT!" he shouted trying to sit up, but the sharp pain in his side made him lay back down. " This is bullshit. Batman makes this look way fuckin easier." He grumbled and once again winced in pain at the wound on his side. Then wheels in his brain started to turn on how to better defend against weapons like that and how he was going to coat his hands in the blood of the metal cock sleeve he had dubbed "Sir Reginald", because his archenemies deserved a name! With those thoughts flowing through his mind, he knew he'd have to stay until the morning. But he'd leave one way or another. He couldn't afford to stay here he had a manic to catch.

Storyteller

Officer Bray heard the shouting from down the hall while they made their way over to Cuervo's room. 'Sometimes I wish we could just say 'nah, never mind' and keep on walkin'. But nooooo, we have to interrogate the weirdos of all kinds. Lucky us.' "I think that room is our guy, Thorne. I'm gonna let you go first again. Your face will be nicer than mine."   Knocking on the door Bray indicated, Thorne peaked in. There he saw their next target for polite conversation--unless Bray interferes--to try and piece together what had happened. "Hello? My name is Officer Thorne, this is my partner Officer Bray with the NVPD. We were hoping to ask you a few questions."

Cuervo

Damian looked over at the officer and couldn't help the feeling of needing to be anywhere but this room, but he pushed it down. He simply nodded and adjusted how he was sitting, so the skull tattoo on his shoulder was hopefully out of sight. He'd had more interactions with officers than he'd like admit, he wasn't exactly an angel he'd done what he needed to do to survive. And sadly, in Detroit as an orphan, that meant joining a gang at a young age. Even if he wasn't that man anymore, he still couldn't help but wish at this moment he'd blacked that tattoo out or gotten it removed. He remined himself he didn't do anything wrong, he just helped a woman in distress. He was good now and they'd know that. Right?

Storyteller

'The silent type. Oh good.' Officer Bray did her best to stifle an eye roll. 'I need a day off, I swear to God.' "Sir, the staff said you gave your name as Cuervo. That's not gonna cut it for the paperwork. We're gonna need your actual name and some valid contact information. You were a part of a crime and fake superhero BS doesn't fly with the legal system."

Cuervo

"Last I checked, I didn't do anything wrong, I saved somebody's life. I was walking home from a cosplay convention and heard a woman scream and got hurt trying to save her." The lie came from his lips smooth and convincingly. He couldn't talk to a pretty girl in a coffee shop, but this? Lying to cops in a hospital? Yeah, he could that. "As for my contact information I can give you a number to contact me, but due to fear of a maniac coming after me I can't give my name I'm not Victory. I'm just a human."

Storyteller

"Never said you did anything wrong. I said you were involved with a crime. Got a guilty conscience? Either way, the 'maniac' won't be getting their hands on the paperwork. You don't have anything to worry about. I'll ask one more time. Let's see your ID."

Cuervo

"I left it in my other cosplay pants. Sorry" he shrugged. And it was true enough he wasn't carrying an ID on him. "Do you cosplay? I feel like you'd make a really good She Hulk? Maybe Captain Marvel?"

Storyteller

"Listen here." She started to take a step towards the kid in the hospital bed and then stopped. "Thorne." That one word was all that was needed to let her partner know he should step in and quickly. 'And they say those classes didn't help.'   Stepping forward, having again been taking notes, the Officer smiled. A tough one. "Sir, I'm guessing you don't like cops. I can't blame you, I didn't like them either some years back. I hate to try the phrase 'We're here to help' because you wouldn't believe it. So let me be direct with you. Interfering with an Investigation is an arrestable offense. I don't want to arrest the man who helped save a life, that's not in my plans today. So, let's cut to brass tax."   Pulling up a chair and sitting beside the bed, he listed it off. "Your name, contact info, and answers to our questions are exactly what the law requires to comply with an investigation. We can't ask you anything about your--activities--outside the realm of the current investigation. But you do have to give us your ID and those basic things. Do you understand?"   Taking a breath, and putting away his notebook, he continued. "You're not Victory, that much we can tell by you being in the Hospital. You're a man who tried to do a good thing. So help us do a good thing by getting us the information we need to put this maniac behind bars or enough of a report that we can sick Victory or Inferno on this monster. Can you do that for us?"

Cuervo

He clenched his jaw and sighed. Good cop bad cop fine. "I really don't have my I.D. " He started weighing options in his head attacking the officer's or fleeing was an option. Or he could try to cooperate even though it went against everything engrained in his body.   "My name's Damian Eli. Please keep this safe. I was... part of a group and if they find me here there will be bodies piling up." Saying these words left a bitter taste in his mouth. He couldn't help the flood of memories that came with speaking about the people he ran with. Being jumped in at 15 they broke four of his ribs that night. The people he saw buried trying to keep up in school and do enough for the gang to keep protection and after all that he was ratting to a fucking cop.   "The guy you're looking for? He's got military grade shit... he fucking shot her while we were moving. A strong enough round to pierce her metal skin... It was insane" his voice trailed off at that part as he recalled the woman clinging to his waist and then the warmth as he felt her blood spread over his armored back.

Storyteller

"Damian..." He trailed off, committing it to memory. "I'll do my best to keep it out of my report, but I will need to run the name. Thank you for that." Taking out his notebook, he started to jot down what the man was saying. "When you say military grade, do you mean a rifle. Did you get a chance to look at it." Looking back at Bray he asked, "Can you check if forensics has any bullet fragments we can trace." Looking back at the man, he smiled. "Anything else you saw? Every detail can help us out."

Cuervo

He sighed again. "Just based off the fact I was on a moving motorcycle. The round itself was probably 7.62 I'm not sure but it had to come out a very powerful rifle" He gritted his teeth again hating himself for saying a god damned thing. "He was an Evo too. His blade was like ... Electric or something" He made no eye contact as he stared just directly ahead any humor or light heartedness was gone now. "Is she okay by the way? The woman?" His words were soft and almost a whisper, but he needed to know.

Storyteller

Taking more notes and nodding along, Officer Throne looked up at his question. “The Doctors say she’ll likely be okay. It’s hard for them to tell given her condition. But she’s not critical from the assault. You likely saved her life.” Finishing his notes, he read them over again and nodded. “This should be good enough to give us some leads. Anything else you can think of? If not, I’ll let you get some rest.”

Cuervo

He shook his head no before looking over to the man’s partner and back at him "...Do you guys wanna go cosplay together? There's three of us so we could go the original justice league trio .." he stroked his chin thinking about other groups that three people could cosplay about.

Storyteller

“Thank you, Mr. Eli, but we will have to pass on you offer.” The officer said as he stood up with a smile and moved the chair back. “If you can think of anything else, call the HQ and ask to be patched through to me. Rest up and take care of yourself.” He said with a tip of his cap and moved to exit the room while going over his notes.   I'm gonna regret this. Officer Bray sighed. "Maybe I'll see you at a convention. I don't dress up, but I like Game of Thrones and some other stuff like that. But anyway, be safe and try not to get yourself maimed again. Thanks for giving us the details. Maybe we'll catch this guy."

Cuervo

Damian’s eyes lit up at Bray's words and winked at her. "It's a date then... and good luck. Just be careful" As far as cops went... He liked these two they seemed good. As for staying safe, he knew he couldn't promise that. He was going to leave the hospital as soon as he could he needed to get home he had work to. Training to do things to build and a cosplay to make.

Saturday morning

The Other Dimension

Athalia Cooper

Having driven back to the apartment building she practically owned, Thalia had made sure to park in the back as she walked Vale through the club. She didn't want to use the public apartment entrance out of fear of being seen, and the club was closed at this hour- so Thalia decided entering through the 'backdoor' was best. Turning off the car, Thalia got out and went around to help Vale out of the car, their bag of McDonald's still sitting on the passenger side floor.   "Can you walk yourself or do you need some help?" She asked as she stood by the opened car door, looking in at the android who was still in her hospital gown. Thalia's sleep addled mind was still half-passed out, but she had been forcing herself awake enough to make sure Vale was home and safe.

Vale

Vale didn't say a word on the trip back. She was fine physically but was mentally shaken. When the car came to a stop and Thalia started to speak, she was in a daze. Not saying a word for a few minutes, before, with a shake of her head, jumping out of the car. “Yes! Yes, I'm OK.” She muttered quickly, having moved completely normal, ignoring the fact she had a large bullet in her stomach. Not that it mattered. Between the light stitches and her own synthetic skin, she was mostly healed. At least on the outside. Closing the car door, she all but jumped out of the car and into Thalia arms. Looking a bit nervous as she stepped back. “Sorry…. I'm … Sorry. I was lost in thought.”

Athalia Cooper

Taken slightly aback by the sudden jump, Athalia made to catch Vale and almost failed, but she managed to help her back onto her feet when she got out of the car. After the door was closed and the car locked, Athalia would have a puzzled look on her face around the bags under her eyes, but she tapped Vale's shoulder and began walking up to the door. She'd wait for Vale if she lagged behind, but if she kept pace then she'd unlock the front door to the building and turn to let Vale enter first.   "We just gotta go through here to get to your apartment, you can stay there for a bit more to heal if you'd like... I don't know how long of a process that is..." Athalia was honest, she had no clue even still what the internal working of Vale's body were like, but she guessed it acted along the same lines as normal human bodies. If anyone was gonna be the one to help on foreign bodies though, it would definitely be Athalia.

Vale

[Mimic, x1 Normal 9/15] Accept your fate
Vale gave a small, nearly unnoticeable stumble, but followed close behind Miss Thalia. She didn't want to miss a thing, her bright blue eyes swishing around side to side, especially as Thalia said it was her apartment. She knew she had been allowed to stay there, but she didn't know that it was hers. Freezing in the doorway, she thought for a moment, spilling her words out loud. “My… My apartment? How. Who will I pay for this–I have to pay for this?”   Her words became rambling, trailing off about money and being unable to pay. If Thalia was watching, she would possibly notice a bit more. Her blue eyes flashing slightly, the lights trailing along her skin seeming to blink on and off. Something was changing in the girl. Currently, it was something small. Her normal, plain nails were flashing, lights were growing under her false nails. By the time she was having her small breakdown at the door, they were completely looking like painted nails, the LED lights behind them flashing to the color of her eyes.

As Thalia resumed walking- locking the door behind them- she would begin answering the girl- "Yeah, it's yours for so long as you need it, and there's really no need to worry about paying for it. Usually the few who stay end up helping around the place... but there is never any expectation to do more than get yourself back on your fe-" She would have finished her deflection of Vale's worry if it hadn't been for her feline-like senses- having shifted enough times into one to practically pick up on most things. It had begun with Vale's trailing, then her slight stumble, and now a light she knew to have not been on the android before entering. "Vale, are you alright? You're nails..." She would cautiously point out, unsure of what exactly was happening to the girl. Thalia would have stopped their walk to ask, having paused in the empty foyer to the three main clubs and the VIP lounge entrance.

Vale

“Wha…what” A soft screech could be heard, as she attempted to speak. Her eyes flashing white, then blank, only to become a soft blue once more. “Whatever do you mean, Miss's Thalia?” Her words came out in a soft, sultry purr, much more adult than her normal almost childlike tone. Her head tilted slightly to the side, the smirk on her lip disappearing as she held out her left hand. Examining the nails, a soft pout formed on her lower lip. “Normally they are pink, It's quite odd they are blue. I guess I did them before I went out? I don't quite remember.”

To say Vale's... if she could even call her that at the moment, reaction would leave her confused would be an understatement. Even though Athalia had only known the android for a short time, she still felt like she had grasped what Vale's default nature or personality was. Apparently, she had not. Not entirely sure of how to react to the android's new... demeanor, she would simply play along with it until they reached the apartment. That at least was a proper place to ask the questions that began churning in her mind, as the entrance to a damn strip club was not quite the appropriate backdrop for what could potentially change her entire outlook of the girl.   "Huh... Yeah I thought I saw something off about them- come on, let's get to the room so we can relax a bit after last night." The proposal was kind of neutral, though Athalia ensured there was enough genuine concern poured into her words that whatever Vale had become for now could detect. It would be a lie to say Athalia didn't get massive I, Robot vibes from the android beside her, but she pushed those to the side hoping that whatever... this was, would pass.

Vale

[Mimic, X1 Normal 3/15]You've already lost.
Vale was more than happy to walk in with Thalia. Thalia was her home. Thalia was her caregiver. She had protected her and given her everything. Thalia was everything. Vale's walk was slow, purposeful, methodical. As if she was taking in the surroundings she had seen a few times now. Though, she was walking a bit odd, stepping forward with the tips of her toes instead of her heels. “I would love to relax, my body hurts quite a bit. Where can I sit?”

Having walked her through the office and into the complex's hallway- Athalia would motion Vale toward the now opened door to the apartment she gave to the Android. "Well, it's your place, so anywhere here." Athalia stated in reference to the apartment, trying to put as much kindness behind it as her exhausted self could muster. She had opted to lay down on the bed, running her hands over her face as her back met the cool sheets beneath her. "I don't know about you, but I'm pretty tired after all that..." She stated, yawning afterword.

Vale

[Mimic, x1 Normal 0/15]Give in to the future
Vale walked slowly forwards, staring around a soft clicking that would not be heard with every step she took. A thin metal spike sticking out the bottom of her bare feet, she seemed to have no issue walking at all with this new advancement. In fact, her stride seemed to increase as she walked towards Thalia, laying on the bed.   "If this is mine, does this not mean so is the bed? Though I don't mind sharing~?" While her tone was a bit sultry, she spoke rather matter of factly, the expression on her face quite blank. The lights never changing, staying a constant blue.

Athalia Cooper

"Huh? Oh yeah no, this bed is yours too, I just wanted to get off my feet for a minute..." Athalia's voice had begun growing audibly tired, the throes of sleep threatening to take her right then and there if she didn't keep fighting to stay awake. "It's fine, I can... I can go back to my own room- I just wanted to make sure you were back and safe now..." Her eyes betrayed her though, as it would seem she were merely on the edge of falling asleep on Vale's bed.

Vale

Vale's current upgrade was complete, there was no turning back. Looking at Thalia, mostly passed out, she smiled a true wide smile. Her eyes/lights turned a soft violet as she reached around Thalia and grabbed the blanket. Covering her, she seemed to lightly push on her side, scooting onto the bed as she started to sing. Her voice came out as a soft Irish lullaby, something she remembered her grandmother teaching her. Though she sang it perfectly, not a note out of place. Her robotic voice even giving a soft flute to accompany the music.

Not exactly taking much effort to lull, Thalia was practically asleep the second the blanket was pulled up. It would seem Vale's efforts worked, as the green haired woman was now making up for lost time in the ocean of sleep. The rhythm of her breathing would be the only noise she made as her mind drifted off...

Vale

Vale sang for nearly an hour, her voice staying as soft as her system would allow her. Merely being background music for her Thalia. Once her performance came to a close, she stared her down, violet eyes turning a gentle pink. Soft, loving. Only to become a deep, luscious red. She didn't speak a word as she moved around to prepare for bed. Tossing off the hospital robes, she had been wearing them until then and grabbing a pair of sweats, and a thin shirt to wear to bed. Returning, she slipped into the bed beside her, gently pushing her, so she could lay under the blanket with her.
